Fantastic customer service. We arrived without a reservation but managed to get one of the two empty tables. While we waited for our first course (French onion soup) we had a fun chat with the chef (just finished his shift) and one of the waiters. The soup was delicious (excellent cheese on top and truffle oil and arugula). The main course of the day was a fish dish with truffle-infused quinoa -- the air was infused with the delicious aroma of truffles (I luckily ordered the last available portion). My meal was so delicious I didn't notice what my husband ate... Good value for money and moderately priced.

Not sure where the Hobbit theme comes from - perhaps the Hobbit's need for breakfast, elevenses, lunch, etc - good food, wine, service OK - my Australian sense of humour might have missed the mark - I think Canadians take "tongue in the cheek" comments a little too literally.

We had an extensive impromptu 3 course late lunch here. A warm and welcoming refuge from the bitter cold, the menu caters to the hungry tourist in search of hearty home-style food. Best part for me was the oceanesque bowl of coffee.

Of course the restaurant's name was enticing, and so were the online reviews. We were not disappointed. We tried the beet + apple + goat cheese salad, two different pasta dishes, and the Baghdad Cafe mousse cake. All were spectacular in taste and presentation. The service was warm and efficient, the decor was trendy and comfortable, and we were seated quickly and cheerfully despite not having a reservation. This experience was a real treat!
