Situated in the street behind Rue Sainte-Anne , the Cafe Buade provides a range of good food with the Table D'hote menu particularly good value.

We happened upon Cafe Buade by accident and wish we had found out that they had a very nice big, breakfast BEFORE our last morning in Quebec City! We would have gone there pretty much every morning if we knew that they served a traditional, large breakfast (eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, homefries etc,). The prices were great and there were free refills on your coffee! Just what we wanted to find early in our trip. Oh well, we will know where to go if we return. The restaurant was nicely decorated but a bit "different" to find the washrooms - it seems it is part of several stores that are in a kind of mini shopping stop - the washrooms were very nice but you have to pretty much leave the restaurant to go to them! Found that a bit odd but alright....

We have eated at Cafe Buade on every visit to Quebec City. It is located in the heart of old Quebec City, short walk from all hotels and across the street from the Basilique Notre-Dame de Québec at the corner of Rue du Trésor and Buade,

Café Buade is the oldest restaurant in Québec City but completely updated and great for families and couples. It offers a complete menu but their specialties are local Quebec favorites, Poutine and smoked meat sandwiches.

Poutine is french fries with Quebec gravy and curd cheese and they have an Italian Poutine which is to die for. The prices are a good value and the ambiance is a nice part of the experience.

Staff is very friendly and most servers speak English.
