“Perfect place to stay”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

Cant say enough good things about the two who run this place. I forget the husbands name and am sorry but the wife is Natalie. First off they sat down with me and explained in English the history of the city, and took out map and showed me where to go. It really made me feel comfortable on walking around and were to go. The place was spotlessly clean, great WiFi, parking included. The breakfast they made was just out of this world!! You can tell they really enjoy hosting and cooking for you. They even explained the types of salts the different jams with breakfast, they have a real passion for what they do. Great place to stay if your in Quebec City.

Room Tip: They are all good Im sure

During our last two trips to QC we stayed here and at the Chateau Frontenac. We had the most exceptional breakfasts and a great location at this B&B above the oldest continuously operating grocery store in North America (really a wonderful small grocery boutique). We had the smallest room they offer but it was clean and functional. At $150 a night including breakfast, you can't beat this value compared to the $400 a night we paid at the Chateau and getting inside the walls was a short walk away. We could visit lower QC and all of the same places we had during our stay at the Chateau including spending some time at the Chateau, but the money we saved on a few nights stay paid for our flights --- you can't beat that.
As for the hospitality, our hosts at JA Moisan were gracious and let us know about restaurants and things to do that the "locals" enjoy which is one of the benefits of staying at a great B&B.
I love all of the old CP hotels and have stayed at most of them, but after visiting them once or twice, I prefer staying at a great local B&B while being able to enjoy the restaurants and public areas at those great hotels without paying top dollar for what are usually small rooms (considering the age of these great old CP hotels).
I'd highly recommend JA Moisan as a home base for touring Quebec City.

Room Tip: They told us the only room they had left was their smallest one which was clean, quaint and perfectl...

From the moment we arrived and were greeted by the owner, Clement, we knew this was going to be one of our best weekend trips ever. Besides being the proprietor, Clement has an extensive knowledge on the history of Quebec, as he guided us from our first steps into his home. Staying at Auberge J.A. Moisan is like staying in a "museum", with each room being decorated so beautifully. The bedrooms were spotless.

Each day we were served a three (3) course gourmet breakfast, prepared by Clement's wife, Natalia, and couldn't wait for tomorrow mornings. We started off with a different smoothie, followed by a baked fruit or yogurt parfait, with pieces of fruit in it. The last course ranged from eggs bendict, croque monsieur to a quiche in a tulip shell.

The rooms are located on top of a general store that has been in existence since 1871. You must visit the store while you are there to browse amongst the many unique items it sells.

The location of this B&B is nicely situated, about a 5-10 walk into the upper portion of Quebec. There are quaint stores/restaurants away from the city part, that are patronized by the French Canadians who live in the area, which we enjoyed so much, conversing with them while we ate. Most of them speak English, so this would not be a problem. If you've never been to Paris, and wanted to experience what it would be like, walking the streets of lower and upper Quebec, will give you perfect picture of what it would be like, "beautiful".
By far, this is a "must" place to stay if planning a trip to Quebec.

I will be travelling to Quebec City next year. I had hoped to stay at Auberge J.A. Moisan. Over the last month, however, I have left three phone messages and two e-mails (per the contact information on their website) and have received no responses. I have stayed at numerous B&B's around the world and I have found that proprietors have always been very responsive. Except in this case.

Cute, welcoming, clean... this is the loveliest place to stay! This B&B is run by Clement, the best B&B host we have EVER stayed with. The rooms are very cute, we loved the claw foot tub and the ornate decorating touches. There is always tea available and the B&B offeres a cozy living room to hang out in. The best part, however, was the BREAKFAST!!! 3 courses of deliciousness served by the gracious Clement- we felt like we were in 5 star restaurant. Thank you for hosting us, when we come back, we know exactly where to stay!!

Quebec is a beautiful, wonderful city to explore and made so much more wonderful by the hospitality of our host Clement at Auberge J.A. Moisan. The B&B is in a wonderful little neighborhood outside the tourist area, but very walkable to everything. J.A. Moisan is beautifully appointed and everything that can be done to make your stay in Quebec is done. Clement clearly loves his city and is happy to share its history, places to explore both inside and outside the city, and suggestions for the best restaurants to sample the local fare. When you find the need to relax in the common areas [very comfortable!], there is always tea available and wine glasses out should you care to bring some back. By far, beyond the warm, friendly atmosphere offered, the highlight is the wonderful breakfasts you will enjoy before taking off for the day. Clement's wife, I believe, is nothing short of a gourmet chef who clearly enjoys surprising the guests. Each meal is different and highlights the local foods... and each day was more delectable than the last. You will be introduced to your three-course breakfast by Clement before you are served and, if breakfast can be a treat, these certainly surpass that definition. I will absolutely return and encourage anyone visiting Quebec to do the same.

Room Tip: I believe there is only one room with a king bed so, if that it important to you, book early. My on...
