We stayed at Le Vincent from Dec. 31, 2013 to Jan 3, 2014. All of the staff was incredibly friendly and so helpful to us, who had never been to Quebec City before. The hotel was very clean and the breakfasts were delicious. We stayed in room 6 and it had a very comfortable corner couch which was perfect when the whether turned very cold and we stayed in to watch movies. That the hotel has a large collection of DVDs to lend at no charge was a real treat during a vacation where we had nothing specific planned and just wanted to relax.
From the hotel, the walk to the old city is about 20 mins, probably faster when there's no snow on the ground. We walked all day, even when the weather was -30, and had a great time. We had dinner in the lower city every night and the cab was $10 each way. The market is not to be missed, we got some very nice gifts. I also highly recommend Quebec City for New Year's Eve, the outdoor dance party on the Grand Allee was a blast. Lastly, if you're there in the winter and forget your wool socks, check out Lamber & Co. in the Chateau Frontenac.More
