“What a hideaway!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 29, 2011

We were very excited to book a B & B in old Quebec City, especially for such a great price.

Our arrival was delayed due to Montreal traffic as well as a flat tire, so the owner had to stay up until 11 pm to let us in, but he was very courteous with us none the less (even though he may have cursed at us privately!)

Chez Hubert is in an amazing location, the Chateau Frontenac and boardwalk is only a 5 minute walk down the street. The house itself is beautiful, the large ceilings and artwork are quite appealing. The free parking out back was a big bonus.

The room was very large and well done, beds were comfortable, and the washroom was eclectic and large. There was a great room with a tv and entertainment (books, movies, etc) and a full kitchen downstairs, which was helpful for us preparing baby bottles.

It was very quiet and easy to find. The hosts had a very nice spread of fruits, jams, breads and cheeses for us in the morning, and the hot dish was the best french toast we have ever had.

It was a very romantic place, and we would love to return again! The price was very good for how special this place was. The hosts were very friendly easy to talk with.

We stayed at Chez Hubert for 5 nights at the end of September. The B&B is excellently located in a quiet, quaint, and atmospheric residential neighborhood at the edge of the Upper Town. We could walk everywhere easily and safely, day and night, both within the walls and without. Our room was by itself on the second floor (there is only a common living room well across the hall that seemed barely used by anyone). The room was enormous and light filled, pure white with high ceilings, wood floors, with two lovely large windows looking out at the roofs and trees in the backyard. Our bathroom was also very light and spacious and very old fashioned and well kept. There was a genuinely older feel to the room and to the B&B that was very authentic and not at all cutesy. The hosts, Majorie and Pascal are charming, warm and very helpful people. The breakfast served each morning was delicious, varied and ample. They prepared the food (eggs, crepes, french toast etc) individually for each guest as we arrived at the beautiful orange dining room. In addition, an amazing selection of freshly baked cakes and breads, cheese, fruit, jams, and pate was laid out on the table each morning. My husband is gluten intolerant and Majorie and Pascal rose to the occasion with vigor and imagination in the meals they provided. This is a great place to stay. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Our room had two double beds, one single bed, chest of drawers and still very spacious!

We stayed at Chez Hubert for three nights in mid-September. The B&B is located in the upper old town near the Saint Louis gate and within walking distance of all sites in the old town (upper and lower) plus Quebec's parliament, the citadel, and battlefield park (Plains of Abraham). The rooms themselves are quite big with nice high ceilings, comfortable beds, and other lovely Victorian furnishings. The home itself is beautiful and well-kept. We were on the top floor and shared two bathrooms with three other rooms. We enjoyed the breakfasts and great conversation each morning in the dining room with the other guests. One last convenient aspect of this B&B is that is parking is included in the rate; cars are kept in a small, private lot behind the house. We recommend this B&B without hesitation and gladly would stay there again should we return to beautiful Quebec City!

I stayed here with my sister on a trip to North America just before Christmas 2010, and this was BY FAR the most amazing place we stayed! The value was incredible (from memory, I paid roughly $100), and the room was HUGE!

On arrival, there was a little bit of confusion, as no-one was home. But after a few minutes, a friendly girl came and let us in and showed us to our room. I booked a room with two beds, and this was on the first floor. The room. was. huge! There was two queen sized beds (mine was INCREDIBLY comfortable) and plenty of extra space, with plenty of natural light from a beautiful big window overlooking the back laneway (but with good blockout curtains). The house is an old terrace, and the ceilings are high, giving a feeling of even MORE space!

We had our own bathroom, and this was also HUGE, with a beautiful claw-foot bath and another big double window overlooking the snow-covered back garden with a beautiful big tree. Would've been perfect for a romantic getaway!

The common areas are also really spacious and clean, with beautiful furniture, books and games. Breakfast was great, and our hosts were a lovely young couple with at least one small child. They were very helpful with directions and suggestions, and great to shoot the breeze with. I had no trouble with the wifi connection.

The location really is second to none, inside the walls of the old city, and a lovely short walk to everything that old Quebec has to offer, including the Citadel, the Chateau Frontenac, and the lower town (which is just like a Disney movie when its clad in snow and Christmas lights). Buses are also very close by if you want to venture further afield.

An amazing city and the perfect base from which to explore it! Cannot recommend highly enough!

Room Tip: The room we stayed in was on the first floor, and as far as I know, was the only room on this floor.

After hours of looking for the best deal inside the walls of old Quebec with an acceptable trip advisor review score we selected Chez Hubert.

It was 115 a night, breakfast and parking included.

There are 4 rooms on the third floor that share two bathrooms. I thought this might be a problem but it went OK.

Rooms with 2 double beds are tight but rooms with a queen bed are quite nice. Keys are provided for each room and the main door to the building has a number lock.

We were there during a heat wave and the lack of air conditioning was uncomfortable as each room had a fan. To get Air conditioning in the old city would have been at least another 40 dollars a night.

Breakfasts were great with croissants and buns a cheese , meat and fruit platters, juice and cold cereal, and a big hot breakfast made to order with eggs, bacon, toast and one day almond crusted French toast. Breakfast was served 8-10.

Location was the best feature as we were one block to the citadel and St Loois gate 3 blocks to the frontenac.

Parking is in a group courtyard in the back and you check your keys in just in case they need to rearrange the cars to let someone out.

They have two cats but my wife did OK and didn't get a reaction.

We would stay again and hope the evenings cool off.

We stayed for two night in this lovely B&B. The B&B is very central and offers free parking. The oqners are extremely friendly, the rooms are very clean , but share (clean) bathrooms with the other rooms. Breakfast is served in a dining room and is very delicious. Paying by credit card is not possible, make sure that you have cash available.,

Chez Hubert is an excellent choice for a B&B in Vieux Québec. The location is excellent, the hosts are welcoming and gracious, the rooms are large and comfortable, and the breakfast can't be beat. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Québec City.
