“Wonderful stay in Quebec City”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

We stayed 2 nights and loved our time at Le Dauphin. Staff (especially Alex) was very friendly and helpful. Alex was a great help in guiding us what places to see in Quebec City, how to get there and where to park. Rooms were very well maintained, and looked quite new and upscale. Loved the convenience of the microwave and fridge in the room. Breakfast was very good with lots of choices.
Access to Quebec City is very good. We were driving our own car and we were able to be get to Old Quebec in about 15 mins every time.
Highly recommended!

This place was nearly perfect. The hotel is extremely well kept up. A nice touch: A video photo of a scene from Quebec's Old City accompanies the room number outside each room (check the photos above).

The rooms were large, well-appointed and comfortable. Despite being next to the highway, it was very quiet. While many other hotels offered free wi-fi or wired Internet, the Le Dauphin had an actual computer in the room set up for Internet. Our room had a mini-frig and microwave (and you can purchase meals to heat up in your room near the front desk). The bathroom was beautiful; the shower, with a glass enclosure and marble walls, was nicer than that in our home.

We found the laminate floors in the rooms (instead of carpeting) an interesting choice, and though ours creaked a bit, we preferred it. (Been in too many motel rooms with nasty carpets.)

Like many hotels, they offer a complimentary breakfast buffet, in likely the largest seating area we’ve seen for a breakfast area. The buffet was sufficient, though not the best we’ve encountered. (BTW, are baked beans at breakfast a French Canadian thing?) Free coffee and juice are available all the time near the front desk.

The hotel is easily accessed off Highway 40, and though it was a bit west of Downtown, it was very easy to get to the Old City from here: Hop back on 40, and Highway 973 was the next exit, taking you right to it.

Staff was wonderful...cheerful and helpful. They made us feel welcomed and didnt mind that we did not speak French...although I would like to learn! Pillows were so comfortable..I should have purchased one! Nice breakfast with healthy options and kind staff always replenishing food. Quebec and Montreal had the most kind and respectful people I ever met while traveing.

I took my family here for our first visit to Quebec City. We had very clean, comfortable and spacious rooms. ALL of the staff were very helpful, friendly and spoke English (we had 1 week to learn French), the continental breakfast was well stocked ( would have liked some bacon, but that's just me) and having free coffee, tea, hot chocolate and juices available 24/7 in the lobby was a BIG plus. It is right off of the highway so if you are looking for beautiful scenery, this isn't the place for you. I loved the easy access to the highway (they offered free shuttle service to and from the city), petrol stations right next door and restaurants. We had our own vehicle so free and easy access parking was a must. Getting around was a breeze with the use of our GPS system). The city was a mere 10 to 15 minutes away as well as other attractions and shopping. I would book here again in a heart beat. We loved our stay at the hotel and in Quebec City!

Although this hotel was a bit away from all of the action it was an great value for our family. The picture of the pool is deceiving because it is actually quite small but other than that we loved the hotel and recommend it for families.

On first arrival here was feeling rather glum. The hotel is a rather drab grey rectangular block directly facing the busy adjacent highway.Reception was very friendly and helpful however and our room was a large suite at the other side from the highway on the 2nd floor so no noise issues. It was very well equipped and the bed was firm and very comfortable.Sadly the windows were all sealed as is often the case in North America or at least in American type hotels everywhere so we had to make do with the airco. As the hotel is situated outside of Quebec city itself i was pleased to find that there was a free navette provided by the city that picked us up at 08:25 and took us up into Quebec city centre, returning at 16:00 from the
Place d'Armes opposite the chateau Frontenac. This was very useful for us as parking in Quebec city would have been a nightmare and being spared this ordeal gave us enough time and freedom to do the tourist stuff....fields of Abraham,Citadelle visit, funicular to lower town etc etc.It was 'Nouvelle France' weekend so very busy but we still had a good time and on one evening forsook the return navette for a dinner in town and a ca.£C20 taxi ride back to hotel somewhat later. The hotel also helped with a guide to local eating houses within a few minutes drive which was also much appreciated.So...although our first impressions were poor in the end the room itself and the helpful staff made our stay a pleasant one.Tried breakfast once and it seemed very basic and my French friend was not impressed with her coffee...."watery" she said politely.I had tea...and no more problems than Wolfe had in 1759 ;-))

Room Tip: Try and get a room on other side to busy highway. There are no good views unless you like gas station...

This hotel is great to stay and it's appearance is that of a first-class appeal. The room is very spacious and clean, and the beds are comfortable let alone the rooms. The fact that a walk in to the hotel to find coffee and juice available was indeed a welcoming sight, and its available any time of the day! (Or night, depending on the time). Staff performance was excellent.
