From the moment you walk in you are greeted by friendly bi-lingual staff who are ready to make your stay comfortable. They were able to advise of places to see, things to do. The complementary WIFI is fast and reliable. A pleasant stay for the budget conscious in a newly renovated old building. A bit quirky, but nice decor.

We had a very nice stay at the Champlain Hotel in Quebec City during the MLK weekend. The hotel is very conveniently located in the old city close to all attractions. The hotel has a contemporary decor, with a nice lounge (w/ a cappuccino/espresso machine) . The room we stayed in was a superior room (upgrade from standard) and was very clean and comfortable. The hotel has also a small parking lot (about 12 spaces) and it costs $15/day but you can get in an out as you like - i found the parking extremely convenient considering that Old Quebec has very narrow streets with a lot of parking restrictions. Breakfast is also included in the price - nothing special here, regular continental breakfast, but definitely a nice bonus. Also the hotel offers free WI-FI in all the rooms!
Overall we had a great stay here and probably the thing we loved the most was the value we got for our money!

Hotel Champlain is only 1 street, 2 minutes walk away from the main street of St Jean in the Old Town of Quebec!

Upon check in we were told of the free usage of the hotel internet in the lounge along with the lounge which has books and brochures on Quebec City.

There is no tea and coffee facitilities in the room but they do provide a very nice coffee machine and tea available 24 hrs a day. During afternoons they put out nice biscuits as well!

The room was very spaciaous with a king bed, tv, fridge, spacious bathroom with bathroom amenities such as soap, shampoo, shower cap.

Breakfast was included in outr room rate, with scrambled eggs, pate, cheese, yoghurt, cereals, fresh fruit, bagels, raisen toast, crossaints, mini muffins, juices, tea, coffee and home made jam. Very nice indeed!

The staff Michele, Sarah and another young lady were always on hand to answer our questions and would always research and call places to enquire for the activites we were interested in! They always did so with a smile and were very hospitable!

Will stay there again when I next visit Quebec!

Perfect location in Old Quebec, just a couple of blocks away from everything on a quiet street., just a 1-2 minute walk to Pub St. Alexandre (which became our favorite hangout). It's a quaint, comfortable hotel with terrific, friendly service. The clerks spoke both perfect English and French.

The only reason I did not award 5 stars to this place is because of a couple of things. First, the bed in our room was very hard. If you like stiff beds, you will not have a problem with this, however, if you like to sleep on your side, you will be in trouble. My wife had trouble sleeping while we were there. I should say, that this may not be the case in all rooms, you might call ahead or ask the clerk when you check in.

Another minor flaw is that in about half the rooms there is no view. Our Window looked out at the brick wall of the adjoining building. It snowed while we were there, so we were unable to see the snow views.

But other than those two things, we loved the place. The included breakfast in the morning was great. However, our favorite part was the on-demand cappuccino machine in the lobby. Make yourself a cappuccino, latte, cafe Americano, tea, hot chocolate, any time of the day or night. Then sit and relax in the chairs and loungers in the lobby.

We stayed here one night on December 11th. The location is great, but the actual condition of our suite was not what we were expecting. Be sure to call the hotel in advance to confirm your selection as this information is not transferred over from websites like Expedia. We had reserved a suite with a king bed and when we walked in to our room, we had two queens. The hotel was very quick to correct this and move us to a room with a king. The room was nice, and there was a nice view of the Chateau Frontenac. The bathroom would have been gorgeous if it wasn't for the mold and mildew encrusting the shower tiles. There was a floating ceiling in the bathroom with significant water damage stains. We also found a tupperware with food in the fridge (kind of funny that the cleaning staff don't clean it out).

Breakfast was decent. I wouldn't rant and rave about it like all of the other reviews. It's your typical continental breakfast (toast, bagels, croissants).

All in all, OK. I don't think I'd stay here again but I wouldn't steer people from it either.
