We spent 3 nights at Aux Deux Lions and had a wonderful stay! The location is just at the range of the old town, good distance for walking but away from the crowd and noise. The room was spacious and very clean. But what impressed us even better was the way Jean-Francois and Sandie treat their guests -- warm and helpful, with respect and they go out of their way to make the old foreign couple's stay as pleasant as possible. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit to Quebec City. Thumbs up!

We found Auberge de Deux Lions for a last minute trip to la belle province for 2 nights. The check in process with Jean Francois was very easy, and he was helpful (and entertaining) in providing a map of the immediate area, and recommendations for restaurants to eat. Sandy was lovely and friendly, and for our only full day in the city, provided umbrellas (it was raining quite hard) and breakfast recommendation to the Hobbit, which was delicious!

Our room was in the basement facing the street, and was small but clean and charming. We never experienced any irritation from street noise, even though we are moderately light sleepers. The bathroom in the room was small but impeccable and the bed was comfortable. There was a small table with two chairs, and nice small flatscreen with a good assortment of channels.

The B & B was in an excellent location for many reasons: exploring a neighbourhood filled with locals, interesting shops and restaurants along Grand Allee, or making a trek to the historic area of Old Quebec. I don't understand the complaints about how far the Old city is. It is easily under 2 km (or 30 minutes at a leisurely walk), and the Plains of Abraham even less so. In this city you can eat the deliciousness that is copious amounts of cheese / wine / gravy etc. Welcome the chance to burn the calories with scenic walks filled with interesting sites / shops on the way to incredible history.

Considering the price per night, the one disappointing thing is the offered breakfast at $8.50, which was nothing more than a bare bones continental There is also a lack of a real common space where all guests could gather, allowing opportunities for relaxing somewhere else other than your room, or socializing with other travellers. What the B & B should consider is turning the dining room into a space for this purpose.

Is located approximately a mile from the old town of Quebec in a very nice neighborhood with lots of very good places to eat, shops to visit, and a good supermarket. There is good bus service that stops near the hotel and takes you directly to the old town.

We had a "superior room" which included a queen bed and kitchenette with a half fridge. The room was located at the rear of the property and was very quiet. We had very good TV reception (including English speaking stations) and the included in-room WiFi was good but not great because of our location. The owner of the hotel is very friendly and helpful, as is the staff. The hotel is slightly on the pricey-side but the accommodations were well-suited to our needs.

The breakfasts are not included in the room-rate so we chose to walk to breakfast to a bakery/cafe called Picardie on nearby Avenue Cartier. We highly recommend this café. There are dozens of other restaurants and pubs in the neighborhood that are very good and reasonably priced. We recommend Café St. Malo in the lower old city for dinner. We dined there twice. Call for reservations.

There are two bus systems in Quebec City. One that has many routes throughout the city but does not go into the old city. The other is called the Ecolobus and circulates continuously throughout the upper old town and the lower old town at the port. We used both systems. A bus pass (one day, or three days, or a week) covers both systems and allows unlimited trips, truly a jump on and jump off. Otherwise you pay with coins for each trip and there are no transfers. Be forewarned that a day for the bus pass starts right after midnight, runs for 24 hours and ends at the next midnight. The Tourist Information Office on the Place d/Armes in the upper old town told us to go around the corner to a tobacco/souvenir shop that sells the passes. There must be many places to purchase the passes if you ask around.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the back where there is little street noise.

We really enjoyed our time at Auberge Aux Deux Lions. All the staff were very personable and helpful. We arrived, looking a bit tired, and were immediately upgraded to a room with 2 queen beds, giving us more space to be comfortable. The adjacent neighbourhood gives you everything you might want, without having to search a big city -- groceries, bakery, coffee, dining. We found the walk into town quite acceptable and we are 65+. The front office being closed at 7pm and using the side entrance at night was no problem at all for us. Glad to recommend this clean, comfortable, friendly abode to others.

Room Tip: We found room at the back very quiet.

We stayed for 2 nights . On arrival we were given advice on restaurants in the area, thus affording the tourist traps in the city, and a lot of night time walking. A well appointed kitchen is available to all the guests. The room was spotlessly clean, the only down side was the dressing mirror on the inside of the toilet door, not good when you are in the shower and your wife is trying to doing her hair, also no share electrical socket to plug my wives hair dryer into. Don't be put off my this, this is a well run business.

4 night stay, very clean and the location was perfect. You can walk almost anywhere from this location. Jean Francois, Joelle & Sandy were all very nice, helpful and accommodating. We stayed in two different rooms and preferred the room on the back side of the hotel; it was brighter and felt more spacious. Beds were too firm for us. Bathrooms are cramped, not much room for toiletries, etc. Lighting in both rooms could be much better. Breakfast was $8.50 per day and Parking (off street in the Hotel's lot) was $14 per day; this is spelled out on their website. Our experience was very good and we would stay here again.

Room Tip: The room with stone walls was charming, but very dark and cave like; the room on the back side was m...

We stayed here for 5 nights in August / September 2013 and loved it. We found the room to be comfortable, very clean, very quiet, and nicely appointed. There is a (very clean) kitchen available to guests, so we could keep our food in the fridge and boil water in the mornings, without renting a suite. It's in a terrific location - only a 15 minute walk from the old part of the city, but in its own great neighbourhood, with local restaurants, coffee shops, a patisserie, a grocery store, and other shops. It was great to be near the old city, but to not have to be in the middle of the touristy area. We walked literally 2 minutes and could sit amongst locals on a patisserie patio. It's also a 5 minute walk from the Plains of Abraham, and a 5 minute walk to the best part of Rue Saint Jean.

The staff deserve special mention. Joelle and Sandie, the two front desk staff, were super friendly and happy to give us suggestions for great restaurants, and help us however they could. The owner, Jean-Francois, is so warm and helpful and gave us a lovely welcome!

We strongly recommend this auberge and will stay here when we return to Quebec. (In fact, we returned the following week, and switched our reservation from another hotel to this one.)
