“A Great Stay”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

We stayed in one of the Superior Suites and it was perfect for our needs, small, well-equipped kitchenette with fridge and sink for preparing a couple of eat in meals, as well as access to a communal microwave and larger kitchen upstairs. The room itself was well appointed and fantastic for us as we were travelling with a young toddler, ground floor with easy access to the outside and few adjoining rooms allowed us to not worry as much about disturbing our fellow travellers.

The service was excellent, Jean-Francois was there every step of the way; from guiding us into our parking spot to providing an overview of things to do and see, steering us towards some good restaurants and the free Cirque du Soleil show. Jean-Francois was always friendly and would wave from the front office window if he saw you going by, making you feel like a welcomed neighbour.

L'Auberge is also very easy to get to by car when arriving to the city and conveniently located near amenities (groceries, pharmacy, coffee shops, etc.) on Cartier street, all while being an easy walk to Vieux-Quebec and Lower Town. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks!

Room Tip: If you are travelling with children you should really call L'Auberge directly, as they will try...

My family and i stayed in this hotel for one week for our first stay in Quebec and we were delighted with the ideal location and the amenities nearby.
The accommodation is of excellent standard, clean and well equipped.
Beds are comfortable, everything is well thought-of
The owner, Jean-Francois, is a mine of information and always reliable.
We will stay in the Auberge aux Deux Lions if we come back to QC.

Auberge Aux Deux Lions is a special place. Jean-Francois is extremely friendly and helpful. He guided us to special evening outdoor events, Cirque du Soleil under the freeway (down several flights of stairs, under the freeway) and Moulin, a documentary of the history of Quebec shown on silos at the pier. He also recommended several restaurants, some with local flavor, some special in their variety. Regarding the hotel, Jean-Francois was terrific at changing our room for the second night when I had had to change our reservation nights.

When we arrived we were met by the owner Jean Francois who immediately came out and helped with luggage and check in. He is so friendly and helpful and very funny. Then he escorted us to our room which was a very quiet little spot with a bar fridge and counter large enough to make breakfast at.

Room Tip: Ask for the room at the back of building.... its really quiet!

Not much to say other than it was reasonably priced, had everything you would expect, great service, and a nice location. I will certainly consider staying at the Auberge Aux Deux Lions again on my next visit to the city.

Auberge Aux Deux Lions is a small, boutique hotel located a few blocks from Parliament and Old Quebec. I found it online and had no difficulty using its web site to book our room.

We spent three nights at the hotel in a “Superior Plus” Room (#208). The rate was 170.10 CAD per night. The room was a nice size. It included an area with a small refrigerator, sink, glasses, and coffee area. There was a small table as well as a desk. The queen size platform bed was comfortable. The room was spotlessly clean.

The bathroom was small, but very usable. We are each 5'5" tall, and the bathroom ceiling seemed low to us. There was no bathtub, only a shower stall. However, this worked fine for us, and it was extremely clean, even the caulk. Obviously it was recently redone.

The hotel is located on a major road; however, our room was quiet. There is also parking available on site for an extra fee (14 CAD per day).

A continental breakfast was available for 9.75 CAD, but instead we walked to the restaurant two doors down and ate a full breakfast (eggs, toast, potatoes) for less than one-half of what the hotel charged.

WiFi is free (included in price of room). I only had two bars, but it worked adequately with my iPad. There is also a laptop computer setup and available for guests to use.

Old Quebec is only a 10 – 15 minute walk from the hotel. My father and step-mother were traveling with us. They are in their late 60s, and they had no difficulty making the walk which is along sidewalks.

The owner was friendly and provided numerous recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. Our favorite was the Italian restaurant, Scalia.

This hotel is easy to find, comfortable, reasonably priced, and although maybe not as charming as staying in old town, is in a nice location. We enjoyed it and would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to traffic noise, choose a room in the back to ensure quiet.

This impeccably clean and well run Inn is a ten minute walk down to Old Town, though a 20 plus minute walk back up. It is in a wonderful neighborhood with reasonably priced dining and shopping of all sorts, plus banks, markets and pharmacies. A different route to Old town each day, recommended by the staff, brought us to great food and treasures for reasonable prices. And in those neighborhoods we could walk side-by-side. Once you get within a few blocks of Old Town, you walk single file and prices double and more. Now Old Town is where the great concentration of diversions are, but it can be claustrophobic. We enjoyed walking back to our more residential neighborhood each night, and usually ate good breakfasts and excellent dinners there.
The Innkeeper and owner is genuinely friendly but respectful of your time and privacy. He and his staff tell you everything you want to know, and make great restaurant suggestions.
We have stayed at the top luxury hotels in many cities, and though I would call this Inn well-appointed and very comfortable rather than truly luxurious, it is the cleanest hotel I have ever visited. We stayed in room 204, which I believe has the only private balcony, with just a view of the back, but was great for a smoker because you can't smoke in this or any hotels I know of. There is a larger front balcony for all guests. We peeked in other rooms and they were all lovely. Again, you can pay twice as much for less in Old Town surrounded by the noisy masses, though there is a convenience factor there. But if you like to walk miles every day anyway, like we do, this Inn was perfect. And with it's many steep hills, if you can't or don't like to walk much, don't go to Quebec City! I highly recommend this comfortable Inn.
