“Very nice but not a "bucket list" trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013 via mobile

Very nice. Nice place to walk around, see the sights and do some souvenir shopping. I highly recommend a trip to the farmers market at the old port.

Hotels in the old section are gorgeous but in the 300-400 dollar a night range. I recommend staying at a hotel on Boulevard Laurier closer to the highway if you are on a budget. You can get a good hotel in the 90-120 a night range. No frills with a nice continental breakfast and 20 minutes straight down the road from the old section.

I recommend a day or two in Old Quebec if you are in the area

“I kept forgetting I was in Canada, not Europe.”

Wear comfortable shoes, it is worth the multiple kms. of walking.
Don't forget the lower city area, very quaint and unique.

“small version Paris”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013

I loved the history and charm of this town.
It will cost you nothing but thousands of footsteps to walk back in time to visit the Plains of Abraham and streets full of old homes and churches. This interspersed with the old ramparts and canons. With the amount of canon and defenses here it really is a surprise that the British were able to overcome this city in 1759 but as the story goes they snuck in the back door by scaling the cliffs. We came here in October and were rewarded with warm skies and way less tourists.
Bon Voyage

“Lovely to walk around in”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013

Famously lovely to see and walk around in. Charming and old European. See it as a town on foot. We took a tour but, later went on our own. We were glad to get the guide to tell of the important information but, like to see the town on our own, too. They are proud to point out the the place is safe and visitor friendly.
