My husband and I stayed in Hotel 71 for the 3 wonderful days we spent in the beautiful City of Quebec. At 1st. we were given a room with a queen bed in the back of the hotel and asked if they had anything available with a King bed. They were so accommodating and moved us with no problem. Our room overlooked the St. Lawrence River where we were lucky enough to see the fireworks and hear the music on the day of the anniversary of the city.
The package we had included breakfast and free valet parking which was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. The breakfast each morning was perfect and included anything you would like except hot items which was okay by us.
the service throughout the hotel was top notch from the valet, to the front desk, to the maids to the breakfast staff and anyone else we encountered.

Room Tip: Rooms of the River side are larger and have a great view.

Booked this hotel following my yearly Ride to Conquer Cancer bike ride from Montreal to Quebec. Every year we choose a different hotel. This hotel is wonderful with huge rooms and bathroom and an amazing waterfall shower to soothe my body after the long ride. Expressos and lattes available for free! Trendy decor and super friendly staff. Next door (connected inside) is an Italian restaurant which served excellent veal and fish. Included in the room price is a very extensive continental breakfast in the same restaurant. Once again, super staff in the restaurant as well. Skip the the silly-priced Chateau Frontenac and do your self a favour and visit the boutique hotels of Old Quebec.

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the hotel was simply but stylishly furnished, and the location was ideal for walking around old Quebec. The included breakfast provided a great start each day. What more could one ask for? The hotel was a perfect base for our trip.

From the moment we walked into the hotel, we were greeted with much warmth. Francine, who is the conceirge was perfect. She made many recomendations for us and all of them were awesome. She deserves 2 big thumbs up for all she does. Not taking anything away from the other staff. All of the staff were great to us. Our room was very comfortable and had a great view of the harbor. Ask for room 729. When I come back to Quebec City, my first call is to Hotel 71.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the harbor.

I am on a Cross-Canada trip by train from Vancouver to Halifax. (If interested, you can read my daily blogs on anshubhatia.wordpress.com). In this six-week journey, I stayed at 19 different (2 places twice) lodging places. There were basically two kinds of establishments - hotels and inns or B&Bs. Almost all the hotels, inns and B&Bs were very good, selected by my daughter who works for Fresh Tracks Canada in Vancouver. However, among the first kind, Hotel 71 in Quebec City was the best hotel I stayed taking into account the room, comfort, staff and attention to details. Their rain shower in the room is so good, one doesn't want to come out. The hotel is located in old city part of Quebec City. I have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone visiting this beautiful city.
