“Perfect weekend in Quebec City”
Reviewed November 17, 2011

We stayed at Chateau des Tourelle on rue St-Jean which is just outside the "old wall" of historic Quebec City. This B&B is perfect, great location, filling breakfast and lovely rooms. A depanneur is right next door where you can buy snacks and wine and the toiletries that you have forgotten! The street is filled with restaurants, boutiques, pastry shops and specialty food stores...just lovely. People have a joie de vivre that is palpable in QC. I always visit the Musee des Beaux Artes while here to reaquaint myself with the Lemieux's and Riopelle's!
Just a heads up...lots of narrow stairs at this B&B..not sure if there was an elevator?

It is a nice place and cosy place, very close to the old town. The hotel was full so we got the room number 7 which is not the best, according to the picture. the breakfast was good and tasty and the price was fair.

A lovely B&B within walking distance to Old Upper Town, Lower Town, and Downtown. Hosts, Allen and William were friendly and helpful on where to visit and eat. Breakfast was a serve to order omelette and whole grain breads with homemade delicious jam in a breakfast room with windows. They even made my husband and I egg white omelette on request. So we had a fresh asparagus with cheese egg white omelette with fresh cut cantaloupe, orange slices and grape and this delicious organic seeded seven grain like bread for breakfast. Breakfast is only served from 8 - 9:30 AM. After our third night, we left early, and had to miss the wonderful breakfast. We stayed in the Annie room which was on the top floor with a shower room and wash basin. However this room faced the major street- St. Jean, so it was a bit noisy in the early morning with trucks and traffic. Also, the room walls are thin and you can hear things going on in the next room. They provided parking in an enclosed garage 2 blocks away that costed $ 8.00 per day. Since we were able to walk to all the sight seeing locations, the car was parked in the garage the majority of the time. Would definitely stay here again if going back to Quebec. This place has a roof patio that has a great city view to enjoy a drink & appetizer on a nice day while absorbing the view.

Room Tip: If you want peace and quiet, request for a back room.

Our family of four, including two teens, loved our stay at Chateau des Tourelles. The hosts were wonderful, the breakfast fantastic with wholesome bread from a bakery down the street. My 14 year old daughter thought the bed with its fluffy duvet was like sleeping on a cloud (to clarify, the bed was perfectly firm). The hosts renovated the building with a lot of thought. Lounge has photo books on Quebec. A great location, away from the crowd of Old Quebec and on a part of rue St-Jean with trendy shops and restaurants, yet only 10 minutes walk to the old city. The elderly may not take to the stairs. Parking is in a lot down the street.

The hotel is located right in the heart of the city within easy walking distance to the main attractions and also offers car parking space if needed. Rooms are bright, clean and full of all necessary amenities. Staff are welcoming and friendly and can answer all questions. Will definately stay here again on my next visit.

Last year, we spend a few days there and we were very pleased with this place. The breakfast were delicious, the bedrooms were cozy and clean and the location was perfect; walking distance to all the place of interests in Quebec. Claudette was a very nice host, she took good care of us!

Room Tip: We first have room #3 Jeanne D'Arc which was nice then we moved to the spacious suite upstairs w...

Enjoyed the charm and character of the place. The owner and his staff are incredible. We shared stories about our interests in farming, vineyards and the local history. We enjoyed the eclectic nature of the neighborhood on our walks to the old city. We enjoyed the restaurants and boutiques along Rue Sainte-Jean. It was nice to enjoy sunset and a glass of wine from the rooftop overlooking the city. So much to take in we'll have to get back.
