We went to Quebec City to celebrate our 30th anniversary. When we got to the hotel we were upgraded to the Jr. suite and it was awesome-second floor (room 3) with huge windows that opened and we could see the Chateau Frontenac across the park. The staff were so helpful. The restaurant at the hotel was very good. We had breakfast every morning there and dinner one night which was a high light. The wait staff were every good also. I will be going back to this hotel again.

My husband and I had a great stay at this hotel. Our room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. The staff gave us wonderful recommendations for places to enjoy lunch and dinner as well as where to savor the "best chocolate croissant"! Breakfasts were included in our room rate.....and they were good breakfasts! The hotel was conveniently located so we could walk to explore the area. Parking was just a block away and reasonably priced. A definite place to recommend to family, friends, and other travelers! 10 years ago we stayed at the Frontenac across the street....it was grand....a place everyone should experience once (when there's no construction project in process) ......but the Auberge Place D'Armes is a place to visit every other time you visit the magical place called Quebec City!

Room Tip: We were in room 4 which overlooked the little walking street in front of the hotel. Quiet and pictur...

I knew it was the off-season and therefore might not be fully functioning but as much as that was true it wasn't bothersome in the least. The staff was incredibly friendly and even nice about how little I prepared for the trip or our language barrier. They were very accommodating to our whims and handled reservations to recommended restaurants on our behalf. As others have said, I'm pretty sure the guests at the Frontenac paid more to look at us than we did to look at the Grande Dame of QC! I loved the comfortable room and dinner in the restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Definitely recommend!

This was just on a whim...and worked out perfectly! The room was perfect (for us)...#6. No noise...everything perfect. We did not see the other rooms so can't vouch for them, but the hotel was just right for us.. It couldn't be closer to the action and looked out on the "big" place in town (which was under construction, so we couldn't even get in to see the grandeur of it all...would have been real upset if that was our choice of hotel. It short, people were great and it was a perfect weekend!

Room Tip: #6....great!

As mentioned in most other reviews, the location is perfect for seeing the old city - right across the square from the Frontenac, and an easy walk to dozens of great restaurants and interesting sites. We reserved a 'Standard' room and were given a tiny room in the back (were told later we should request a large 'standard' room - understand the suites and attic rooms are much larger), with desk/chair, and 1 arm chair, plus small built in closet; coffee maker (no frig or other) had 2 cups of coffee (no tea provided); TV had the standard 40 channels most Quebec City hotels have. At least there was absolutely NO outside noise and only a minimal amount from the stairs and hall - we did hear plumbing from other rooms, but it was not overwhelming. The staff (1 person) very friendly at check in/out. the attached restaurant 'Pain Beni' well reviewed and seemed popular, and gave us a more than adequate choice of breakfasts included in room charge. While clean, the room was small, the bathroom very small, and carpet frayed (some wear and tear evident). clock radio did not work, and our biggest problem was the smell of sewer gas coming from drain in shower. Parking less than a block away under Hotel de Ville is convenient - pack lightly, as hotel has no elevator and the stairs might be steep for some people.

Spent 3 nights at this lovely B&B.
Very friendly staff.
Location is great for the $$ worth.
Shower is steamy and powerful (very important for my taste)
Bed is not to soft.
Breakfast is included, although not too extravagant, but a plus for an expensive city.

Will definitely stay there again.

We spent 5 days at Auberge Place d'Armes; charming hotel, great location. Our rooms overlooked rue Ste.Anne, and were spacious and quiet with modern bathrooms and even a small balcony. The staff was accomodating and helpful. Only one small drawback, the breakfasts were included, and although there was a good variety of choices, the food tended to be overcooked. However, we had an excellent dinner in the same restaurant. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: I think the rooms in the original part of the building were the nicest.
