“Perfect location. Delightful old Quebec boutique hotel.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

We stayed at Auberge Place D'Armes on Friday Sept. 20th 2013. After a long walk uphill from the cruise docks (not wanting to wait an hour for a taxi!), we easily found the hotel on a pedestrian only street right in front of the Hotel Frontenac. Room 3 was spacious and beautifully designed with a combination of contemporary and antique flare. The bathroom was amazing with beautiful fixtures and a quaint toilet roll cupboard. The room was on the second floor with a view of the street. Very quiet. We enjoyed a delicious scrambled egg breakfast (included with the room). We would definitely stay at this hotel again. Can't imagine why people would choose to stay in huge impersonal hotels like the Frontenac or Hilton when you can experience personal service in a charming and luxurious boutique hotel just steps from the sites and sounds of old Quebec.

Room Tip: The mattress in this room is quite firm. If you prefer a softer bed, you may want to inquire as to o...

My wife and I traveled from our coastal Maine home to Quebec City for a three day get-a-way. Although we had visited the city often in the past we had not been there in the last 15years and were curious if much had changed in the old city since then. Except for the tourist shops in the lower port area, not much. It is still a very european city with great french based cuisine. And the Place d'Armes fit right in. Located on a walking street some 100 yards from the Chateau Frontenac the hotel has an eclectic variety of clean nicely appointed rooms and small suites. And although our room (#21) faced the street it was very quiet.

Front desk personnel were very helpful and accomodating. I suggest using the valet parking (3 dollars extra) as parking in the old city is hard to come by. The valet will also take your luggage up to your room, a nice service considering the steep and narrow stairs (there is no elevator). Kathy in the restaurant went overboard to make our meals memorable AND reasonable (try the fondue with local cheeses!). We also discovered a couple of very respectable Quebec wines through her. The breakfast is part of the room charge, lunch we took elsewhere as our walks discovered that many of the restaurants served half price meals then, but dinner at the hotel was great, especially on the outside heated terrace watching people go by and listening to the various street musicians with the cathedral bells in the background. The inside restaurant decor is modern and simple.

We were pleasantly pleased all three days.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade to a JR suite.

Two rooms for a few nights with the family. The hotel is on a pedestrian street and the staff was always willing to assist with luggage. We had lots of luggage and one room was on the third floor.

Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant was excellent. Also bar service. All and any issues with room or otherwise was dealt with professionally.
We had a car but you can walk to anywhere you need to from here. And the tourist center is just a few steps away. Where the tours begin

I recently stayed at the Auberge Place d'Armes in Quebec City. Hotel was perfectly located in the center of all the action of Old Quebec. Our accomodations were superb. Very clean and spacious. The breakfast that was included in the room price keep us going all morning as we did alot of walking to attractions. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Merci!!!

Room Tip: Stay on the 1st floor as there is no elevator to the other floors.

Stayed 3 nights last week. Location absolutely perfect .. As was food in restaurant (sampled breakfast lunch and dinner) and all meals were really great, with great atmosphere and service .. And all of the staff were really friendly and helpful. Room combined the old feel of the building with modern quirky touches. This was an enjoyable and genuine.y refreshing hotel experience. Would happily recommend to anyone wanting to visit Quebec City.

This is a belated review, as my conscience has finally stricken me for using TripAdvisor so much, but never contributing to the reviews on which I rely. This Auberge is very central, in a pedestrianised street (in which there are, admittedly, delivery lorries fairly early in the morning). The old buildings have been very well modernised to provide rooms with great character. The staff are delightful and very friendly. The breakfast is excellent, as is the free wifi. If you want to explore Quebec City and don't want a large hotel, there can be few better places.
