We booked this hotel because we had some reward points to cash in that covered two of our three nights. I had wanted to stay inside the old town, but as it turns out we couldn't have chosen a better hotel or location for our family of four. Located on Place d'Youville, just outside the city walls, the hotel allows you to access Rue St John without being right in the middle of the city. For us, this was a major benefit because the city was packed this week. There were thousands of people everywhere, and while it wasn't a problem for us during the day, we enjoyed being able to get away from it to the relative calm of Place d'Youville.

We travel a lot on both business and leisure and generally stay in 4 star hotels. This property was lovely, and really quite up-market for a Courtyard, I think. The lobby is charming, evoking the feel of old Quebec but the rooms are modern, well maintained, and impeccably clean. Also, the beds were extremely comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well which was really appreciated this week - it was sooo hot in the City! We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant one morning and it was good. The buffet was typical and I think it cost us about $15 per person but everything was hot and well prepared.

But like what others have said in their reviews, what really makes this hotel is the staff. Without exception, every single staff member from the moment we arrived until check-out was incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We had a couple of odd requests, including finding an optometrist who could have my husbands glasses repaired, and scaring up a maintenance person late at night to open our adjoining room door when we managed to lock ourselves out of one of the rooms (long story)! The concierge had great restaurant recommendations and told us where best to view the Image Mill.

We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is spending time in QC for a short family vacation, as we did, and we'll definitely be back!

a) It is located just off St John's Gate, very close to the Old Town, but outside.

b) The staff is extraordinarily competent and friendly.

c) Three different breakfast options for satisfying travelers from very different cultures. You can have a very complete continental buffet (which is more than enough for most Europeans) for only 12 CAD.

My husband and two adult children just returned from Quebec City. This hotel made the trip! Quaint and cozy, the hotel was just steps away from the hectic pace of inside the city's wall. The rooms were neat and clean, and the entire staff was delightful. Everyone was eager to help us throughout our entire stay. When we left, we felt like we were leaving friends. This lovely hotel is a must when visiting Quebec City!

This was our fourth night in Quebec City in five days. Three of our nights were spent in the lower part of town at the Hotel 1912. That hotel has more character but also cost $80.00 more. The Courtyard's room is much larger but more standard as to what you would find with other Courtyards. We would stay here again. The staff is great.

When we booked our room for a long weekend in Quebec City, we expected the usual utilitarian Courtyard experience. Imagine our pleasant surprise when the hotel turned out to be one of the nicest hotel experiences of our lives! The service was superb: I had called in advance to request a suite (we were originally in a regular room) and the desk manager, Gigi, told me there was nothing available -- but that she was going to look out to see if a suite became available. A few days later, on our arrival, she greeted us at the front desk with the happy news that we got the suite we desired -- and when we got to the room, she had chocolates and a note waiting for us. The concierge, Christian, was equally pleasant and knowledgeable. The location could not have been better -- just outside the St. Jean gate to the Old City. And even the restaurant was excellent. (On one rainy night we resigned ourselves to eating in the hotel -- and the meal was excellent.) Quebec City was wonderful, and the Courtyard Quebec City Downtown was equally superb.

After a long and tiring road trip from Ontario, the staff, especially Martin and Julie welcomed us with open arms. We had bicycles on the back of our car which were quickly attended to (stored) and our luggage dealt with. They made us feel like they had been waiting for us, and our anticipated hassle about our bikes never occurred. This is a great hotel, with an excellent location - simple and efficient with staff who cannot do enough for you. Our compliments to Marriott for their great choice of staff here. Our room was ready, comfortable and clean. what a fabulous location especially for the Summer Festival. You can easily walk anywhere of interest in Quebec City from this hotel. Bike down to the Vieux Port (can rent bikes here also) for a cycle down to Montmorency Falls or elsewhere. Restaurants are everywhere. We had a happy and memorable 3 day stay.

Another one night stay but we wished it was longer. A lovely hotel - friendly and efficient staff and well equipped rooms (515 is very good). Now they have a resteraunt which serves good food and is no more expensive than most resteraunts in Quebec City. We have stayed here several times now and find it's location - just inside Port St Jean - and amenities excellent.
