My wife and I booked this hotel on the strength of previous reviews and were not disappointed. Despite being the first weekend in May, Quebec City was freezing and wet. However, we were given a warm welcome and enjoyed a comfortable night in a well-appointed room. Others have remarked on the breakfast delivery, which is neat but I might get a bit bored with the selection if I were there more than a couple of nights. However, the neighbourhood has plenty of small restaurants and diners so it would not be too difficult to branch out. This is also a particularly convenient hotel for the station if you are arriving by train from Montreal - a very reasonable journey, if a bit slow by European standards - when will the TGV come to North America!

This was our first time visiting Quebec City. We went there for Winter Carnivale from 2/7/08-2/12/08. Both of us were very impressed with the hotel. It was impeccably clean and the room was a good size. Every morning we woke up to a cute breakfast basket outside of our room filled with croissants, muffins, jams and yogurt. It was a great way to start the day. The staff was incredibly pleasant and helpful! It was maybe a 10-15 minute walk to the carnivale attractions but it was a very nice scenic walk. We will definitely stay here again!

Chose this hotel after reading many reviews.

Location is good. Easy walking distance from train station and old town. Room was lovely and the bed very comfortable.

Breakfast hampers are cute. Also useful if planning to go on an excursion that day. We went whale watching and took breakfast with us as needed to leave very early. Hotel were great and arranged things early for us.

There is a Belgian restaurant downstairs whish specialises in mussels. Had a really nice meal here one night, definately worth a try.

Quebec City is such a magical place, I found that this hotel was the icing on the cake of a great stay. A truly cosy and continential feel in a beautiful city.

After reading reviews here, I chose this hotel and we loved it. We were not surprised, which is always a plus! Except maybe that it was a bit nicer than we expected! Room and bathroom so well designed--lighting, storage, coffee maker, robes (first time I've been in a hotel room where they actually put in 2 robes for 2 people!!).
As others have said, the breakfast, while a sweet idea, is a bit tiresome after a day, but not a big deal. We just went out to eat. We also really liked the location. Could have walked over from train/bus station. Several neighboring cafes with outdoor seating where we could sit with coffee, or beer, and watch the petanque players in the square in front of the hotel. All of which contribute to the European feeling of the City.

Really liked it. Simple but elegant decor. Robes available in room. Helpful staff. Basket of fruit and nice coffeemaker in lobby. Only downside was sink stopper in our bathroom didn't work. Good restaurant on first floor (physically connected, but different ownership).

This is a great hotel if arriving by train as it was only a flat 5 minute walk from the train station. Nice small hotel, very European feel. The room was a good size for a double room with a king bed and well appointed. Continental breakfast was a pre delivered basket with filtered coffee in a satchet. Some nice restuarants nearby and it is located adjacent to the old town walls so no wasted time getting to the tourist sights.

When my husband proposed to me at the Chateau Frontenac, we decided to get married in Quebec City (even though we both lived in Pittsburgh). On our quest for finding the ideal spot for our special day we walked into the quaint Hotel Des Coutellier. We were also pleasantly surprised to find the best restaurant (The Moss) in Quebec City for our reception. After meeting with Jean Sebastian the manager of the hotel and Pierre the owner of The Moss we were soon on our way in planning a day to remember.

This October will be 4 years we have been married. Now with two amazing, healthy children, looking back on that day I know for a fact we would not have done anything differently. The hotel had their own special touches on everything. It was nice to wake in the morning only to find a basket filled with delicious crossiants at our door with the weather forecast for the day.

As for the "The Moss", to die for. The food was amazing along with the service. We could not have done it better. We highly recommend this hotel and restaurant to anyone... You could not go wrong. The price is perfect and the memories will truly last a lifetime!!!!!

We will be going back this coming October for a vacation with our children. Take a wild guess where we will be staying......

Thank you Jean Sebastian, Pierre and your amazing staff for a day we will always remember........
