This hostel actually outdid a hotel that I paid over twice the price for! It is clean, spacious, quiet, and within the old city, meaning that you can leave the car parked and explore the city on foot. They excelled at the little things, having discounted parking passes ready at check-in, as well as internet access, lounging areas, a bar (closes early), and a wide array of tourist info. The rooms themselves are spartan but adequate as a place to crash after a long dy of exploring and enjoying the city. Breakfast is not included in all rates but there are better choices down the street. Don't forget to check out the rest of the city outside the stone walls. We found much better deals within walking distance on that side of the wall. We would definitely stay there again.

My friends and I went on a roadtrip through Canada and we started in Québec. The hostel is more as we all expected!
It was very clean, the stuff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was amazing. We met a lot of other backpackers and young people. The location is right in the city, everything was walkable and we had a great time. Even though the weather was bad we had a great time!!! I definitely would recommend the hostel to everyone!

This hostel is definitely one of the best I have ever stayed at in terms of cleanliness, comfort, and location. We had a private room with a private bathroom. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Our room was in a separate building connected to the main building and required the key card to enter. I think our separate building housed all of the private rooms. This setup was critical since there were large groups of middle-schoolers running around the other building all week. The hostel is right in the heart of Old Quebec. The hostel felt quite safe and there was free wireless.

Our room rate included a free but underwhelming continental breakfast (served from 7-10). Other negatives: room lighting was extremely dim and there was often a long line to talk to the receptionist at the front desk.

Overall, it was a great stay!

Very, very nice hostel. Very big, but when I was there, in December 2008, it was very quiet. I slept in a 8person dorm room and had at max 3 other people in the room! Probably mostly due to the very, very cold winters here...
Breakfast is okay, for 6 bucks you have a nice buffet. They organize a lot of nice activities from the hostel, definitely worth participating in, from movie nights to pub crawls and coffee with a cake buffet at a very high rotating restaurant, plus there is a small pub in the basement.

Location is very nice, in a sidestreet of one of the main streets in the Old Quebec part. Walking distance to everywhere, since Quebec is a compact city.

Staff is always willing to help, speaks perfectly English, and is nice and cheerful. Prices are good to, I paid about 22 Can Dollar per night, including HI Hostel Membership discount of 3 dollar.

Quebec City is a very special place. The Hi Hostel is in the centre of the old city which is right where you want to be! It has bright airy, extremely clean rooms, good breakfast facilities, reasonably priced internet and friendly helpful staff. My sister and I, 55+yrs loved it and would gladly recommend it to other travellers. We did have bunk beds which may be worth consideration.

I attended a conference in Quebec City but didn't want to spend $200 per night at a conference hotel. Hadn't stayed in a youth hostel for close to 30 years. Staying at a hostel isn't easy if you are used to hotels, private bathrooms, elevators, large closets, etc. But if you don't mind an adventure the hostel is the way to go. The guests are friendly, the staff is helpful, there is a restaurant/bar, internet, and the list goes on. You are provided bedding but you need to bring your own padlock and towel. It is located in the Old City, a mere 5-10 minute walk to the St. Lawrence Seaway overlook. Plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, etc. within safe walking distance. Tip - you will be assigned a specific bed in the dorm. The bed number also corresponds with the locker.
