This is a must see, the tour was perfect way to experience the beauty of this hotel! Theme rooms are so cool! Slide was really fun and both 9 year old son and 14 year old daughter really loved the place!

“Amazing Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2014

A must see if you travel to Quebec City. The ice hotel is nothing short of amazing. We took the self-guided tour and were amazed at the bar, public areas, rooms, chapel, etc...Much nicer and more impressive than we had expected. Well worth the price of admission.

“Hotel de Glace, Quebec City”

This was a great experience! But.......it could have been better by just small things that the hotel should change (in my opinion)

We paid A LOT of money to stay here for the night to have the experience. We arrived really early to maximise our money spent. There is plenty to do in the grounds - snowshoeing, cross country skiing ect. But the place was packed with people who were just there on a coach tour or for a visit. You can't have your room until 9pm which is fine but you walk around the place and the general public are everywhere and it just made the experience feel less personal and spoilt it a little. We went to take a look at our room and people had dropped litter in there. The general public are not allowed access to rooms after 8pm when the rooms are checked and cleaned ready for you at 9pm which is also fine because you can sit in the coffee area (in a warm building) and you get your lesson on how to dress for and go to bed. I would advise people spending lots of money to come here as a treat to not go until a bit later in the evening when it will be quieter and more intimate for you. In my opinion they should not let the public in after 6pm. Smoking should be absolutely BANNED at the ice hotel or at least have a smoking area far from the ice hotel. They should have a better restaurant. The little cafe is fine for a snack but people who are staying would perhaps want something a little better. We went there at 6pm to be told they have run out of chilli and soup - the two main savoury meals on the menu! This was rather dissappointing as were staying the night and they had served all the food to day visitors. They do offer to get you a takeaway service but again, eating a chicken burger and fries from a bos was not something we imagined doing at the ice hotel! The experience of sleeping there was amazing though and my comments should not detract from this. You are very warm and snug in the sleeping bags provided and it really was fun and not to be missed if you can afford it as a treat.

I just feel that such a brilliant experience was slightly marred by small things that could easily be changed. It felt that they just wanted the maximum money for the least effort. People pay lots to stay there and a little more thought for the overnight guests would make it all so much better.

This is a must see if you are in Quebec in the winter. We didn't stay here, but made sure to take the tour. We did the tour during the day (which is free with your entrance fee). Tours are in English or French alternating every 1/2-1 hour. The rooms/suites are open up until 8pm for tourist to view. Make sure you see the #1 suite and the Arctic spas. Have a cocktail in the lounge and you get to keep the ice glass! You can take a short slide down the Disney Frozen slide. Try the maple sugar from the "Cabin Sucre" , they pour it hot onto the snow and you wrap it yourself using wooden stick and then eat like taffy. There is a warming area inside with a café and snack and restrooms. CHeck out the chapel, you can have a wedding there. We went for about 2 hours during the day, then came back at 10:30pm to see the lights at night (same day no charge for entrance fee). Oh and free parking too. If you don't have a car, don't worry there are shuttle bus tours that go there from Old Quebec hotels. Definitely go, there are only 2 in the world.

“Awesome - next time I'm sleeping there!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2014

Enjoyed a terrific tour of the Hotel de Glace. It's amazing, cold, but fun. On our tour we learned various facts about the hotel and then had time to explore at our leisure which was great. We enjoyed one of the many 'cool' beverages in an ice cup which warms the insides and makes your hands cold at the same time. The speciality tour for making your own ice cup wasn't available - only weekends, which was unfortunate during the Carnival de Quebec, we hoped they would have an augmented schedule but enjoyed our time none-the-less and will look to sleeping there one night the next time we visit Quebec.
