We found this hotel on line and booked it because of the good reviews. My friend and I (2 ladies) stayed in Room 6 on the second floor. We loved the room and the decorations. Everything is very tastefully done and good quality. The owner, Marielle, went out of her way to help us with directions since you walk a lot in Quebec City. She recommended eating establishments which were great. The hotel is near the boardwalk and the Chateau Frontenac landmark hotel.

Keep in mind that these small historic hotels in old QC don't have elevators - it's all about carrying luggage up and down stairs, but we had no trouble and had help if we needed it.

Room Tip: Room 6 is on the second floor, 2 beds. It's large and sunny. A/C works great, not noisy. Nice...

My wife and I traveled to Quebec City for our 25th wedding anniversary. Never having been there before we looked at many properties and decided upon Maison du Fort, booking room 10. Upon arriving, we dropped off our bags and parked the car down the street in a parking garage, not needing it for the next few days as the hotel is perfectly located. We truly had a wonderful time, welcomed by Marielle's brother who helped us plan our next few days while Marielle was away.
We kept the windows open, enjoyed the sounds of the horse drawn carriages trodding by from time to time, and truly unwound. The city itself was fantastic but when we return, we will plan it around openings at Maison du Fort. It was that great of an experience for us.

Room Tip: Room 10 is at the very top of the stairs with great views.

We LOVED our stay at Maison du Ford. We literally gasped when the door opened to our room #10, because it was so absolutely charming -- large, beautifully designed, quaint, and very comfortable. We were just steps from St. Lawrence and the boardwalk and two or three blocks from top restaurants. Marielle was on vacation during the days we stayed, but her brother was very helpful, giving us guidance on where to eat and what to do. We felt very fortunate to have stayed there and would go back without a question. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: We stayed in room #10. It's a walk-up hotel; we were 3 stories up. The room exceeded all our...

Just had a great stay at the hotel! Marielle is great. She went out of our way to help us try to find a lost cell phone (left it in a cab and there is no way we could have spoken to the cab company in French). The place is super cute and cozy. The location can't be beat. Right near the chateau and terrasse and walking distance to everything in the walled city. The best part is, the location is on a quiet street, so while you're in the thick of things, it's still peaceful. Also very close to the fort if you want to watch the changing of the guard.

Room Tip: Check out the rooms on the website in advance. Our room was small, but that's fine for us, we do...

What a wonderful stay we had the Maison du Fort! Marielle's passion and knowledge helped make our stay in Quebec better than anyone could expect. She went out of her way to accommodate us during our four night stay and the breakfasts were an added bonus. The room (#10) was large, clean and comfortable. It had great views of the St. Lawrence, the Chateau and mountains in the distance. The hotel is in the heart of the walled city; however, it is on a quite street and within a couple of minute walk to every attraction Quebec has to offer. Having been to Quebec a number of times, this will be the only hotel I would consider staying in when we return for our next vacation!

Room Tip: Rooms number 6 & 10 were large with beautiful hardwood floors, great views, appealing color sche...

Marielle greets you as you come in, and makes you feel like you are home again. What a wonderful place to stay. She wants to know what you want to see and do, then shows you how to get there and the best times to go. She is so proud of her city, and wants you to see why she is. We stayed 4 nights and by the time we left I felt as if we had become family. The location is perfect. Located within the walled part of Quebec, but away from all the crowds. Just a short walk to the Citadel, or the waterfront. The room was large and well furnished.
The freshly baked breads and muffins Marielle makes are a great way to start the morning. I just wish there was a higher mark than 5. If ever a place deserved it, this is it!

Room Tip: The front rooms are larger. If you make your reservation early enough request room 6 or 14.

As soon as you are greeted by Marielle, you feel right at home. She is an attentive, friendly, hospitable host who not only tries to meet your needs but to anticipate them. My cousin and I stayed for a week in July and room 6 was perfect for us with enough space that it practically felt like an apartment. If I was only giving a rating to the medium and large upstairs rooms, I would have marked excellent across the board. The small rooms were very small and the rooms on the main floor would have been noisy. The hotel was clean, the beds and chairs were very comfortable, the bathroom had all the amenities one would need, and everything worked properly. (The last item might seem unnecessary to state unless you've stayed someplace where things DON'T work properly!) In the morning, you can help yourself to juice, coffee, hot chocolate, or tea, a piece of fruit, and an assortment of muffins, pound cake, banana nut bread, and the like. Only 2 short blocks from the busy activity of the nearest commercial street, the location was convenient to everything in Old Quebec but still peaceful, with the main traffic being the occasional horse-drawn carriage clopping by.

Room Tip: There are (very) small, medium, and large rooms. I recommend the medium or large rooms above the mai...
