Great stay and experience.
from cleanliness to restaurant to location, met our needs and expectations :-)
We would come back again. One thing is I don't know why this review has to be 200 characters long. Great on hotel but overdone on min review requirements.

For us budget conscious travelers this is a first class hotel in every way. Very clean, modern, well run and within walking distance to the Old Town. It was by no means cheap but worth every penny. A very good place to stay especially if this is your first trip to Quebec City and do not wish to stay "within the walls" of the old town.

Room Tip: I think any room would be fine.

Considering this is under the "Choice Hotels" category (along with Comfort Inn and Econolodge) I was skeptical. What we found was a newly renovated boutique hotel - very clean, no smells, modern décor, very quiet. The bed was very comfortable (although if you want a cooler room, the air seemed to be stuck on 24 degrees and wouldn't go lower); there was a small fridge which is awesome for snacks and cold drinks; the housekeeping was immaculate. The breakfast was perfect, very affordable, clean, lots of fresh fruit, no oil residue under the eggs!! The waiter all three mornings was pleasant and efficient. This place is very affordable considering all things and it was only about a 15-20 minute very pleasant (although uphill) walk to the Old City. One bus easily takes you there and back as well. Would go again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Royal William. Great location, easy access, nice rooms and terrific staff. The hotel is easy to locate coming into to the city from the west. Secure parking was available across the street. Our room (211) was spacious, well-appointed, comfortable and quiet. The staff was very kind and extremely helpful whenever we needed their assistance. Bus stops are close by to get to anywhere you want to go in the QC area. The Old and Lower towns are just a 10-15 minute stroll away. Also, there are some very good restaurants close by if you just want to dine close by.

Went to the Hotel with family from out of province. Had read positive reviews for the most part and took the bad ones as one off experiences.

Check in was a positive experience as we had 3 rooms. Once we went into the rooms we found two to be large and comfortable. The bathroom in one had a lingering smell but didn't get an opportunity to bring this to the attention of the front desk.

Our issue was with the third room. Walking into the room was like a sauna. It was uncomfortably hot. We spoke to the front desk and was advised they would look into it. We rested in the other two rooms for a while and revisited the third room and noted no change in the temperature. Spoke to the front desk and was reassured the AC was on but would take time to cool the room.... So we went sight seeing.

On arriving back to the room about 3 hours later (now approximately 11pm) - the heat in this third room was still unreasonably warm compared to the other rooms. Having young kids with us we approached the front desk and was advised that the hotel was full and they could not provide us with another room. We again voiced our displeasure as for the price, working AC is something we expect.

The lady at the front desk brought in another lady; who, I assume is the manager as she didn't formally introduce herself. From the get go she was extremely confrontational and had an "I don't care - take it or leave it" attitude. Her explanation was that the AC was working but it's hot outside which, we probably would have bought if the other two rooms were as hot. She essentially said good luck finding another hotel as there is a festival going on in the city.

She also initially refused a refund on the room after saying there
Was nothing she could donto hel us. After sometime stated we could talk to the place where we booked; however, she could not do the refund. If she had said this up front instead off flat of declining it would have been nice.

Luckily the booking site offered us a full refund on all three rooms. Upset that our family trip had such a damper on it and the lack of other rooms; we simply left Quebec City at 12am with 3 kids under the age of two with us.

I have stayed at other hotels were things have not always been 100% but have never had such poor service when trying to resolve the situation. Not impressed at all.

First of all, as you mentioned in your review, at your arrival, everything in your reservations was right and your check-in was done with professionalism and courtesy. The three rooms were at the same floor for accommodating you. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and really clean.

At your arrival, the outside temperature in Quebec City posted 33 degrees and feel like 42 degrees with humidity factor. One of your three rooms was a few degrees warmer than usual. The two others rooms was perfect, about 22.5 and 23.0 degrees.

As the hotel was fully booked for this evening, it was impossible for us to provide another room. Usually, we could accommodate our guests without problem. As our ventilation system is centralized and each unit is located in the ceiling of each room, we made some verification in the computer system and everything seemed to work normally and the air conditioning was on. As the outside temperature was unusual, we agreed that the unit not provided on request.

Monday morning, we found a problem with this unit and we change it. You understand that this operation could not be done in an occupied room at 11:30 PM.

We have done our best with the options available to us. We gave you a refund for the three rooms despite the fact that two of three rooms was perfectly habitable .We sincerely apologize for this situation, but unfortunately are things that can happen.

Thank you very much for your understanding,

This Hotel is located just a 15-20 Minutes walk from the old town with all its Attractions.
Alternatively the bus stop is almost directly in front of the hotel.

The rooms are biiiiiiiig (approx. 45 m²) and very comfortable. Also the bathrooms are big and everything is clean.
The breakfast is good and definitely worth the price.
So,this Hotel is a perfect accomodation if you need a affordable,city-near Hotel with good service and comfortable rooms.

Parking lot is not directly at the hotel, but 1 block away, but this is absolutely Ok.
