Auberge Saint-Antoine

We recently took our first trip to Quebec City and stayed at the Auberge Saint-Antoine. I chose this hotel from the great online reviews. We were not disappointed. The decor is unique and relaxing and very clean. The location was great just outside the old city so somewhat quieter, but within easy walking distance to everything. The best part of our stay in my opinion were the great employees. The doormen/valets are pleasant, cheerful and helpful. The reception area was well staffed and pleasant. The concierge was very informative with great suggestions and helpful with reservations, making our Quebec experience great! The Panache restaurant is a beautifully redone historic building. We would definitely stay here again.

We spent one night here after our stay in the Hotel de Glace. The staff is wonderful, the bed was extremely comfortable and the restaurant outstanding. A first class hotel, close to the river and the streets of old Quebec. We were allowed an early check in at no extra charge. We each had a spa service (body massage and facial) as well as enjoyed the sauna. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel has a very interesting connection between Old Quebec and the modern world. They display different artifacts, such as pottery, household items, utensils around the hotel which is itself a modern style. Even the nightstand by my bed had an encased fragment of a lampshade. Our room was fittingly the Luminaries.

The rooms are comfortable, clean and beautiful. Really loved the heated floor in the bathroom.

The staff is so pleasant and helpful. There was not one need they did not find a solution to.

Location is perfect for walking around the city. We were able to find everything and didn't need a cab, even in the snow.

I wish more hotels held themselves to the standards o Saint-Antoine.

My wife and I travelled to New England in October to partake in the beautiful fall colors. We started in Boston, travelled up through Vermont, and made a point to visit Quebec City before we travelled back through Maine to Boston. Quebec City completely exceeded our expectations. It could be the most romantic city in North America. And, the Auberge Saint-Antoine was a highlight of our visit there. We met the gracious Madame Price at the cocktail hour, and were very impressed with her love of the hotel and the city. The entire staff was incredibly attentive and made our visit a special experience.

We had dinner at Panache one evening. The food was superb, and the restaurant spectacularly beautiful and comfortable. I heard someone say once that a great hotel starts with a great restaurant. The Auberge Saint-Antione is an example of that.

I would not normally spend this kind of money for a hotel room, but we had a good deal and I really wanted to know how the other half lives. Also I was celebrating my birthday.

We had a room with a king size bed and with two closets. Multiple drawers in which to put our clothes. A fully stocked fridge. Very nice snack choices. Great wines and alcoholic beverages as well as non-alcoholic choices. The bathroom has heated floors, two sinks and two bath areas. One bath area has a very generous sized tub and shower. The other is a very large glassed-in shower with two shower heads. And of course there are two terry cloth robes and slippers for your after bath wear. The room also has an upholstered rocking chair and ottoman plus a fairly comfortable office padded chair. Free wi-fi is also available and various outlets, etc. for your computer needs. The room also comes equipped with a Bose CD playing radio. Provided CD's included a Diana Krall selection along with a Berlioz Symphony and a Water Music disc.

The facility is located in the Basse-Ville of Quebec City. It is within easy walking distance of all the shops and restaurants in the area. It is also an easy walk to the Funicilare which will take you up to the boardwalk by the Chateau Frontenac and all of the amenities of old Quebec.

We also had a nice view of the St. Lawrence River and the boat traffic cutting through the floating ice. Memorable if you are into that sort of thing.

The bar has jazz music on Thursday through Saturdays. The hotel also has a large viewing room for movies and t.v. shows. The couple providing the music were very good. She sang and he played the electric guitar. A nice, soft electric guitar. Her voice; think a Diana Krall type of delivery . Very, very nice after a brisk walk on a winter evening.

Did I mention the coffee? A Norelco individual cup brewing system. Great coffee.

How does the other half live? Very well thank you. I hope to be able to return here at some time in the future.

Room Tip: I prefer a direct water view room. I believe that all of the rooms have some sort of water view, but...

Having been extremely impressed with Auberge Saint-Antoine on a previous visit, I chose it again for a romantic weekend getaway. We had a Luxe room with a king bed, a complimentary upgrade from the Luxe room with queen bed I'd booked. This was spacious and modern, with a well designed walk-in closet area that provided plenty of storage space and platforms for opening suitcases. We particularly appreciated the two sinks in the bathroom, which avoided the usual bottleneck when getting ready to go out for dinner. The large glass shower enclosure boasted a shower head that delivered a flow like Niagara Falls, and although we didn't use the soaker tub, this looked nice and deep.

The concierge was extremely helpful with suggestions to make our weekend special, including arranging for champagne and caviar (excellent New Brunswick sturgeon with several appropriate garnishes) to be waiting for us in our room upon arrival, as well as making dinner reservations for us at Le Patriarche (reviewed separately). All ingredients of our breakfast at the hotel's Panache restaurant were of high quality, as was the service.

The location is perfect, a short stroll from all the sights in the old city. If arriving by car, be aware that the entrance is not on the main road, rue Dalhousie, but rather on the narrow one-way side-street, rue Saint-Antoine. We used their valet parking and found this to be very efficient. All of our interactions with the hotel staff were positive; people seem to enjoy working there.

This was such a beautiful hotel to stay in. We purchased two nights through groupon. The location is excellent and within walking distance to all of old quebec. Our room had a large bathroom with a walk in rainforest shower, double sink, large tub and heated floor. The bed was extremely comfy. We had windows on two sides of the room so it was very bright and a small balcony which would be nice in summer. There were two comfortable rocking chairs to sit in. We ordered room service which arrived promptly on a large silver tray on a trolley. The food was very good. An excellent stay. We heard the jazz band playing on our way out and they were very good.
