“Bright, modern room and great service in a central location!”
Reviewed September 14, 2010

Our room was fresh and modern with the best lighting I've seen in a long time. The continental breakfast delievered to the room each morning was a special treat. But what made this hotel really special for us was the advice we received from the front desk staff about good restaurants and things to do. (Lunch at Savini and dinners at Conti Cafe and La Cremaillere were fabulous.) Thanks to their advice we found excellent places to view the Silo Light Show and the international cycle race. Because of the central location we could walk the old city, over to the citadel and down to the river for a boat trip. My wife and I would return in a heartbeat.

Our room was on the third floor in the front of the hotel, overlooking Rue St. Jean. We were in one of the dormer rooms under the red tin roof. It was clean and neat and very comfortable (even though my husband hit his head on the slanting ceiling once). The bathroom was recently redone so was modern and clean. Each morning, between 7 am and 8 am, we found a small valise style basket hanging on our door. It contained orange juice for each of us, yogurt for each of us, milk or cream for the coffee we could make in the room, and fresh croissants from the patisserie up the block; a very nice, relaxing continental breakfast. The staff is bilingual, courteous, charming and very helpful. All in all a pleasant place to stay.

Our room at the Hotel du Vieux Quebec was on the back side, away from busy rue St. Jean. Not much of a view, but the trade-off was four of these quietest nights I've ever spent in a hotel. As the other reviews have pointed out, a basket delivery of croissants, juices and yogurts from a local bakery, Patisserie Au Palet d'Or, was a wonderful treat. My son was giddy with retrieving the basket and opening it each morning. In addition, the hotel has a spacious study, where my son, wife and I amused ourselves with several games of "Clue."

My only complaint is that we had to first check into the hotel, leaving our car on the street, before receiving instructions on where we could find the parking garage (you won't be able to find it otherwise).

Recently spent two nights here with my partner. We had a room with one Queen and were expecting something small, but the room turned out to be quite large. Everything was clean, tidy and in good condition. The front desk staff were friendly, helpful, and bilingual.
Breakfast delivered to our door in a basket was perfect for us and more food than we needed. Price was in-line with other hotels in the area, if anything a touch less than other similar places that didn't include breakfast. Will book here next time we go back and recommend to anyone else.

Being in the centre of old Quebec city is what sells this hotel. You couldn't ask for a better location and driving there was quite easy. Parking is in a nearby parking station and of course this adds a cost to the total bill, but it was convenient. The bonus of staying right in the old city was being able to just go for a walk after dinner without driving anywhere and seeing the floodlit buildings, and on one night the free Cirque du Soleil show. Breakfast was nothing special and the beds were hard. It was one of the more expensive accomodations of our trip, and if it had not been for the location we wouldn't have considered it. All up though we had three pleasant nights there. Surprisingly it was actually very quiet at night. The safe in the room is a great idea, very few of the hotels and motels we used had this facility.

The desk staff was extremely helpful and gave great advice and information. Everything at this hotel ran smoothly -- room was clean, comfortable. Breakfast arrived in the mornings on the door. Really there were no problems. The restaurant beside the hotel is also very good and is always crowded. Free wifi.

This is from two teachers, wanting to have a long weekend great getaway, explorie Quebec City and take a road trip!
We picked this hotel initially because of what it offered,.. a parking arrangement to ditch the car after a long ride, a green approach to hotels , a great central location and a certain intrique from the friendliness ot their reservations folk. It was everything and so much more.
We got lost i upon arrival, but felt so comfortable calling the front desk to ask for help. They stayed on the line with us until we parked the car at their door. Jeffrey welcoming us and explained the bill, the parking at a very nearby underground garage. Easy!
This hotel is beautiful, great library with computers to check email. Jeffrey helped us with getting our iphone to hotel wireless,
The room was terrific, comfortable queen size beds and cozy linens, fridge to unpack our snacks. We loved that decadent basket breakfast, another sign of their great hospitality.
As we wandered about the beautifully clean, historical and cultural city , our hotel always felt like our home away from home.
Jeffrey explained so many scenarios of the day to us with such intelligence and knowledge.
The hotel rates were absolutely worth it because the hospitality of everyone working there made our weekend so enjoyable. Perfect!
Pierre gave us the last minute attention with parking and checkout that sendt us on our way with a friendly smiles
We are definately going back.. Check their website to consider this great hotel!
