We stayed here for one night while in town for a wedding. We took a red-eye into QC, so I emailed ahead of time to ask for early check-in. The front desk staff told me they'd do their best to accommodate us - and they did! We even took a dip in their outdoor hot tubs, which were lovely and relaxing.

The location is wonderful - right on the Plains of Abraham and a 10 minute walk to the Chateau Frontenac and Old Town. I would definitely stay here again!

We were extremely pleased with our stay! Given some of the negative reviews we were more than a little nervous. We were in the new area of the hotel.
The room we stayed in (404) was well kept and very clean. We had a nice view of the plains of Abraham. The staff were very helpful. Not a luxury hotel, the pool is small, but the sauna, and the outdoor hot tubs a great way to relax. We soaked outside on a rainy 9 degree day and loved it!!! I would highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely rebook in future.

We used the hotel this weekend from 8-10 October. The check in was really fast and we stayed at superior two queen beds room with courtyard view. The staff was nice at the reception. We didnt experience any problems and the room was clean and everything was new. We liked the pool and the hottub, although during the night some really loud guys were at the tub and yelling loudly. It was a little hard to sleep. But overal I would recommend the hotel. We stayed with kids so quietness was important for us. If you are going to be up all night you can of course stay at a room with the street view. The only problem was the parking. I highly recommend to use any other nearby parking as Vincipark is horrible, parking lots are tiny and we were charged $54 for less than 2 days, though their rate says max $20. We are trying to deal with that right now and I get really rude messages from some guy who works there. We'll see what they say about money reemburesement.

Room Tip: Rooms on the courtyard are quiet.

We spent 3 nights at the Chateau Laurier in October. The location is great, just off the Grand Allee and a short walk to the walled city. The staff are very helpful and friendly and we were checked in quickly. There is a St Hubert in the hotel which is a must if you like bbq chicken. The rooms are dated and small, the bathroom is REALLY small and very dated. The shower pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water. The soap dispensers, although a cheap touch, means less plastic, less waste. The beds were comfortable but the bedding looks like it could do with a change. There were cigarette burn marks on all the blankets. The toilet paper and kleenex felt like recycled paper - hard and scratchy. This hotel is by no means a 4 star as advertised in by North American standards, more like a 2.5 star. However, this may be the norm for this part of the world.
I would likely not stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the courtyard and not Grand Alleee - super noisy

Bonjour, I want to thank you for taking the time to share your comments following your stay at the Hotel Château Laurier Québec. The hotel features many room categories; for your next visit you may select a room with more square footage and a spacious modern bathroom. You may also request a room facing the Plaines of Abraham which will be very quiet. Our location on Grande Allée Street is for many travelers a great feature experiencing the excitement of the city. I hope you had a great trip returning home and to see you again in Québec City. Johanne Caron , director of Sales and Marketing

Firstly I have to admit we stayed in the economy rooms...they smelt of old nicotine but were clean (ish) and functional. The hotel is going through renovation of the common areas and I can only assume the rooms are being updated. The gym and pool area we small but well maintained and pleasant, the lobby, restaurants and common area's are quite lovely and modern. ....the BUT... our room was something from the late 70's with an ancient TV, no block-out curtains and pretty limited facilities. We had family staying in the hotel with us in a suite and it was very nice so I would suggest paying a little extra if you are using the room for more than a place to store your bag and sleep. Location is hard to beat and the on-site meal options are great with local restaurants within two minutes walk. The bar staff were pleasant but incredibly slow, parking was simple and in general the staff were all friendly and happy to assist us in English.

Room Tip: If you want a great location pay the extra for a suite.

Bonjour, thank you very much for taking the time to comment on our hotel. We value our guest's comments and appreciate finding out what our strong and weak points are, from your point of view. The hotel features many room categories; the suites are spacious however a customer could select from our deluxe or prestige room types and enjoy more square footage. Once again, we thank you and we do look forward to welcoming you back to the Château Laurier Québec during your next trip to our historic town. Johanne Caron director of sales and marketing.

While we did not stay in any of the rooms, we did spend a great deal of time at this hotel during my company's conference. We initially did book here but found a slightly better deal at another hotel.

From Sept 22-25 we ate breakfast, lunch and supper that entire time and the food was excellent. This is only to do with the banquet service, not the in house restaurant we never ate there.

Hotel is in excellent location with lots of old Quebec attractions nearby as well as the bars and restaurants for at night.

Staff were excellent, always very polite and service was always great.

I only heard from one colleague who had the economy room, which seems to be the main negative issue on tripadvisor, that the room is indeed small but was adequate for just her alone. She suggested that it would be ideal for those travelling alone on business but that couples would find it too cramped.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the economy room unless you are travelling alone, it would be too small for couple...

Bonjour, thank you so much for taking the time to share with us your experience at the Hotel Chateau Laurier Quebec , expressing the point of view of a convention participant. You have best summarized the main objective of the George-V, our catering team , which is to exceed the expectations of our customers. During the dates of your visit the hotel was sold out this explain the premium room rate. We often feature special deals depending of the time of the year, we hope you will give us a chance to welcome you again to better experience our guestrooms. Thank you again for your feedback. We stayed in the newer part of the hotel which is recommended to avoid some of the problems the other reviewers encountered. Our room was modern, with new, comfortable beds and updated washrooms. Water pressure was great and the space was a very generous size.
We found the concierge, the reception desk and all of the people working in the hotel very knowledgeable and helpful.
The Grande Allee was crazy busy but very entertaining. I agree that sleeping over it would be difficult but we were over a quiet courtyard which was very peaceful.
The only complaint I have is that the room was rather dusty when we arrived and didn't improve in the three days we were there. Our friends staying one floor above us did not have their room attended to and had to call to have it made up. I wrote this in my response card to the hotels management and to their credit they wrote back to me with an apology.
The hotel is close to everything. A very short walk to the old city and all there was to see there.
I would get some advice on restaurants before I went again. The ones recommended to us didn't really pan out and I expected more from the food in this city. The only exceptions to this were Vieux Cannons, ( sp?) and ironically the St. Hubert in the hotel building which served a great lunch and even had entertainment.
Would use this hotel again for sure.
Aside from the hotel, I wish that the entire province of Quebec would smarten up and have English signs, directions etc available to tourists. Nothing says you are not welcome like emergency exits and emergency instructions for elevators in French only. Not only unwelcoming but dangerous. Us knowing how to get around and where to go, what to do leads to us spending money and I can't see how that threatens any persons sovereignty.

Room Tip: Stay in the newer part of the building. It is worth the extra money.
