“Nice hotel in the heart of Quebec City”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

This hotel is very nice with friendly staff. It is very well situated: adjacent to Parliament and Old Town. Most, if not all, of the rooms have a decent view. The hotel plan is essentially triangular with one side facing east toward Old Town and its iconic wall, another facing south toward the Quebec Parliament building and the Plains of Abraham beyond, and the “Laurentian View” side that overlooks the city to the north and west stretching to the Laurentian foothills in the distance. The Saint Lawrence Seaway can be seen on the higher floors of either the Old Town or Parliament sides.

The bar is open late with a limited food menu for late arrivals or guests seeking a midnight snack. The breakfast buffet is top notch. The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful, as was the concierge. Actually, the staff at this hotel were among the best of any hotel at which I’ve stayed.

There were a couple of downsides though. First, the windows needed washing. Some of the pictures I took through the window were pretty much unusable due to the dirt. Second, and most annoyingly, sound travels freely between rooms with connecting doors. We were awakened early in the morning by people talking in the next room. They weren’t talking loudly, but the sound travels so freely between the rooms, they might as well have been in the same room. The hotel should invest in better doors with gaskets to block the noise.

Overall, this is a very good hotel. I’ve stayed here twice and I would stay here again, but would request a room without connecting doors.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without connecting doors.

We just returned from two nights in Quebec City at this property with our two children. We upgraded to a spacious suite with phenomenal views of Old Quebec when we arrived at the hotel. Fortunately, we checked in early in the day and the suite was available. The room was well appointed, though it does appear that the rooms will need some upgrading in the near future. We found the decor of the hallways of the hotel corridors to be somewhat dark (though clean) and the room doors look like they can use a replacement or a fresh coat of paint.Other than that, the lobby is modern and everyone working at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. We called down for additional pillows and towels and housekeeping brought them promptly. Our kids enjoyed a swim in the outdoor pool which is heated in the winter. The location just outside the old city gates is fantastic. Everything from the old city to the fortress and the Citadel are an easy walk from the hotel. We would certainly return here if we make another visit to Quebec.

Room Tip: Get a room on a high floor with views of the old city.

we visited during our March break trip to Montreal so went on to Quebec City, Hotel is nice we booked the family gateway package which included breakfast/wifi/valet parking, which was all good, just the lady checking us in had no clue and i had to tell her that and she found the docs that were printed and kept.
had a nice room on the 12th floor with a good view but due to the fog did not get to see much, i was surprised when i saw people in the out door pool and when i went saw it was heated and was great first time i had a swim in winter in an out door pool.the kids had a good time, enjoyed breakfast the next morning which was good.

Room Tip: the rooms i felt were small but good

Stayed on 20th floor overlooking Old Town and the St.Lawrence, beautiful! We stayed 5 nights @ $169/night/king bed, including a buffet breakfast, hot and cold or the chef will prepare your choice of eggs! Service was excellent! Walk to Old Town and some great restaurantst! Ski; Stoneham, 30 min., Mt. St.Anne, 40 min, or Massif, 60 min. We have stayed here before on a ski holiday and love wondering into the Town after a day of skiing.

Room Tip: High floor with River/Old Town view

Enjoyed our stay so much we will be back next year. Good service, beautiful views of old city and mountains. In front of convention center, just walk across the plaza! Unfortunatly no free Wi Fi. A shame for a hotel in 2013. Even in the most remote areas of Thailand they have free Wi Fi!

Stay at the chateau Laurier instead- cold outdoor pool no whirlpool sauna only fits 9 snug people for a hotel with 23 floors. No free wi-fi and my coffee maker doesn't work well Very disappointed for such a highly appraised hotel chain.

Four of us stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed it. Located right next to old Quebec and parliament so walking is simple.

Staff were fantastik:
Front desk were quick and helpful
Converge were extremely good to us. Great guys!
Valet....terriffic

When towels were needed...5 minutes

We had a plug in the tub that required maintenance...there in 5 minutes and fixed in another 5 minutes.

Great hotel experience...not thrilled with the restaurant though (see my Allegro review)

Would go back for sure.
