“Best place to stay if arriving by train!”
Reviewed October 15, 2009

I picked this hotel mainly based on its proximity to the train station and the excellent reviews on this website. However, I have to say I was a bit hesitant. The website of the hotel was a little dodgy and the interesting pink facade of the building made me ponder what the inside looked like. But boy was I in for a surprise...

The hotel was a <2 minute walk from the train station. All the staff at the hotel were very friendly and it seemed like a really well run establishment with the bar downstairs. We were given Room 112 which is excellent because it is a corner room which overlooks the parkette outside. The rooms were newly renovated and tastefully decorated (laminate floors, comfortable bedding, eye-pleasing decor). Most importantly, the room was very clean!

This hotel really is a hidden gem. Aside from being close to the train station, it is right across the street from the Marche De Vieux Port. There is also a Ecolobus stop right outside at the parkette - look up the Ecolobus, it's free and passes by many of the attractions in the old city! As well, if we did not stay here, we would have never discovered the wonderful little antique shops and art galleries which are located just down the street.

I would highly recommend this hotel!!!

We needed a reasonably priced hotel within walking distance of the station, and this gem proved a fantastic solution. The tiny Belley hotel sits above a popular bar/cafe, loaded with local colour and charm. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and can be relied upon both for interesting snippets about the immediate vicinity and for tips for venturing further afield.

Our bedroom was spotlessly clean and quite spacious, with exposed brick walls, wooden floors and large windows that opened out over the petanque pit - great fun to watch the locals playing in the evening! The bathroom was a little small but it worked. As others have mentioned, there is no coffee-maker and no fridge, but we managed to get coffee in the downstairs cafe with no problem as early as 7am. It proved as charming - and colourful - for a breakfast bowl of cafe au lait with croissant as it did for a late evening drink (or two or three!).

Our only slight reservation was some traffic noise early morning on our first night there, but interestingly this wasn't repeated on our second night. The stairs were a little steep for carrying cases and although this wasn't a problem for us, it likely would be for the elderly or for those with disabilities.

All in all, for a great value vieux ville hotel with charm, this would be hard to beat.

Lovely little spot at a great price. Spotlessly clean, steps from the Old Port and the walled city -- perfect distance to keep the crowds and noise down, while still being able to walk everywhere in the Old Town.
As previously mentioned, no coffee makers in the room, but you can get a great coffee from several places within a stone's throw, including the main-floor cafe.
The Marche du Vieux Port right across the street has vendors who sell killer coffee, croissants, baguettes, fresh fruit and veg and more.
We bought our breakie there one morning and ate at a picnic table on the grass in front of the market.
Also close to the Cirque site and the Robert LePage projection.

Great wee hotel, friendly and helpful staff. (Last minute availability during busy summer season), excellent location (close to bus/rail), within walking distance to most major sights, although the entire city centre is easily navigatable on foot.

Attached to popular bar with locals and tourists alike, plenty of nieghbourhood restaurants within walking distance.

Quiet, comfortable room, with pleasant exposed brick wall effect (loft apartment feel!) and interesting view - leafy, locals regularly partake in a game of Petanque!

Can't beat the location and price. Definately the best value in this area. Don't need a car, 5 minutes from everything you need. Room is small, but clean and quiet. Loved the small outdoor bar, market across the street for breakfast or lunch, Esso across the street for coffee. We were told this is where the sailors stayed so lots of history here.

My 11-year old and I booked a small studio with a kitchen for three days to explore the old city and research some family roots. It was perfect for us to feel independent while car-free. We rolled our luggage over from the train station and it was walking distance to everywhere else we went: the farmer's market so we could cook in the room (restaurants were "tres cher"), the ramparts, the Cirque du Soleil performances, etc. A small electric bus went by regularly and we could have ridden to further points. The hosts were very helpful and kind, extremely forgiving of rusty French. We could see most of the "Moulin a Images" from our window and we were able to do our laundry on the last day which was a great joy!

A very small quaint room. Newly renovated. No fridge or kettle. The bathroom is tiny, (the shower door hits the toilet). Quite quiet even though it is above a pub. The pub is nice and a good place for a drink.
Locaion is good because it is an easy walk to the train station and an up hill walk tothe upper old town. Lots of restuarants around, a market across the road and good access to the old city. Great to walk around Old Quebec City though very touristy. Bring an umbrella. Recommend the citadel, galleries and Pellier Bakery and restaurant for superb soups and bread.
