Charming hotel conveniently located in the upper city. Especially convenient to Via Rail travelers, as Gare du Palais is just a couple blocks away. Attractions within and outside the old city walls are very close. We had a room in the newer section, overlooking Rue St. Jean. The room was nicely decorated and very well maintained. We were in town during Summer Fest (a nice surprise!). We heard street performers from the room, but they were done by 11 p.m. or so and did not disrupt our sleep. Don't be discouraged by reviewers who have complained about the entrance stairs. A valet is at the door to assist with luggage. And, has been mentioned by other reviewers, access to the hotel without stairs is available through the restaurant/bar on the Rue St. Jean side. The reviewer who said she/he wouldn't stay here based on a look in the front door was dead wrong. The entrance and lobby are well lit and beautifully furnished. As I mentioned, we were in town during the summer music fest. Four major stages are located throughout the old city, one within a few blocks of the hotel. Crowds were enthusiastic, performers were excellent. We hope to return for future summer fests and plan to stay at this hotel again.

The hotel is located in the old town and is an easy walk from the VIA train station. It provided a good base for a couple of days spent exploring this most attractive city as almost everything is within walking distance.

The hotel is well maintained with attractive, spacious rooms although it is quite old and has winding corridors and slow elevators. We had lunch once at the attached cafe and thought it provided very good food at a decent price. There are many other restaurants nearby.

Overall this was a very good choice particularly since we paid only $150 including taxes a night through Wotif.

Bernard at reception gave us the best welcome we have had in all of Canada - particularly loved it when my husband said he had given his car to valet parking and Bernard very cooly answered - "we don't have valet parking Sir" - he was joking of course but what fun. Rooms lovely, clean and relatively spacious for an older style hotel. Free wifi in all rooms - excellent. Great situation in old Quebec City which is clealy a must for any trip to Canada. Food in fine dining room magnificent and breakfast a complete treat, all except the pastries - you need a new pastry chef!! But the hot chocolate and omlettes superb and cooked to order. for $12.50 a head including all the bufffet - great value. Marie in the Spa was fabulous and being a spa junky, I am very particular and now their spa is running the one at Chateau Frontenanac - no wonder - they were excellent. Only issue was the air-con - we were very grateful it worked but oh boy - so noisy.

Excellent stay in Quebec City and in a great location inside the old city. Staff was extremely helpful in every way. Priced right for the area. Small grocery next door was convenient. Paillard Bakery across the way was great for breakfast every day. Rooms were very clean and I am very picky about clean rooms! Booked 3 days, wish I had booked a 4th, but they were sold out!

This was our first visit to Quebec, made on the spur of the moment, so there weren't that many available places in the old city at the last minute. We were thrilled with the choice! The location is fabulous and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and the bathroom was beautifully modern. We loved having WiFi in our room so that we could check our email, research restaurants, sites, etc.
We highly recommend this hotel to anyone; we would definitely stay here again.

This is one great hotel! The staff is absolutely fabulous and couldn't have been more helpful or informative.
Our room was large with a very modern bath and really clean--no complaints.
The general condition of the hotel is really impressive--thought it must have been completely rennovated recently--their upkeep is top notch.
