Description: Around a table with friends or with your better half, any occasion is good for a moment at 1640. Located in the heart of the old town, enjoy a great view on Frontenac Castle in a décors inspired by the golden twenties with a touch of modern. With a great Bistro menu specialized in meat, charcuteries, cheese and pizza, explore our selection of wine or our signature cocktails. The 1640, a must in Old Quebec.

Enjoyed breakfast on the terrace. Friendly staff and quick service. I had the crepe with strawberries -- mmm! Very good!! Fruit garnish was fresh and strawberries compote was very flavorful. Plenty to eat and was finished with a smooth tasting americano. Great location for outdoor dining. Recommended.

The location in front of the Chateau Frontenac is amazing. We sat on the patio as the sun began to set and the Chateau was lit up by the sun going down and it was beautiful. Having said that, we ordered the $29 3-course menu and were disappointed. The French Onion soup looked very pretty but has almost no cheese it it and the flavour was average. The main course pork chop was overcooked and the sides were mushy. The sole with lobster sauce was not edible. It was more of a seafood sauce paste than a lobster sauce. The maple creme brulee however was very tasty (not a lot of maple flavour). The set menu was supposed to come with coffee or tea. The server asked me for my preference with dessert and I said coffee. The dessert came, I ate it. Coffee never came. Next time I saw the server was with the payment machine when it was presented for me to pay the bill. It certainly wasn't horrendous but wasn't worth $108.

The food and drinks were excellent. We had great service. The servers are all able to speak several languages easily and happily! My friends and I actually dined here twice because we liked it so much. We ate outside both times!

My wife and I tried the quick lunch option from the menu. Neither one of was overly impressed. It's in the perfect tourist location, next to Tourist Information and across the street from Le Chateau Frontenac. There are many other better places to eat in our opinion.

You'll be paying for the location and not necessarily for the food. It's ok, but expensive for what you get. Great patio in front of Chateau Frontenac, right in the heart of everything....but there are other places and better places for food and value. The dinning room is also very nicely set-up....on the fringe of fine dinning.
