We took the ferry across to Levis in order to get photos of the Fontenac Hotel as the sun was setting. It only takes 30 min each way, so we still made out dinner reservation.

We have been on two cruises to Quebec City and are totally smitten with it. There is so much to see and do that one day is only long enough to wet your whistle. It really has that European feel about it. My only difficulty was that every restaurant we stopped at to eat had only French menus and we never stayed.

Walk every street and absorb all the beauty and history embedded in these wonderful stone houses and churches. Yes, shop if you must, and support the local merchants who keep their neighbourhoods alive, and on occasion you will find boutiques that are uniquely Quebecois. Nothing wrong with that, all to the good, but the real treasure to be found is on the streets themselves.

Take a trek to this rambling marketplace on the waterfront with its luscious fruits and vegetables, preserved meats and cheeses. Great for a snack or a picnic. Ice wine, anyone? The specialty nougat bars are a perfect dessert.
