If you enjoy history this is great. We did get a little tired of hearing about this segment of history on every tour. The park is beautiful and the view from the walls is awesome.

Start you walk near the Museum of fine arts and discover the beauties of the plains. Take to stairs that will bring you down in Petit Champlain and then walk up to Chateau Frontenac or take the elevator.

There is an interesting display showing the details of the battle here where the English defeated the French. What we like best is the open landscape with views over the river. A quiet and reflective place (no skateboard parks, etc.).

We went to the park and discovered there was a bus tour with a guide who explained the various high points of Battlefield Park (Plains of Abraham). We had a fabulous tour guide who drove the small bus. He was very amusing and informative. It was worth the cost.

The Plains of Abraham are huge. Running with the kids in the expansive grass field made it feel like you couldn't quite reach the other side. We (myself, wife, 5yo son, and 2yo daughter) did not spend a lot of time here. We were mostly looking for a quick break after some site-seeing earlier. The kids just wanted to get out and play.

We parked in one of the metered spaces on the South side of the park near canons. The kids really wanted to climb on the canons, but they were marked for "no climbing." They were pretty disappointed in that. But, we ran around the park a lot which turned out fine.

We contemplated a few other trips back here, but ended up picking another park (Victoria Park) which was walking distance from our hotel instead.
