This is the place if you want centrally located accomodation at a great price. The food is french at it's best and the dining room will be full of tourists, like yourself. But most of those tourists are staying at the (5 mins. walk away) Chateau Frontenac at $400 a night not the $100 a night you're paying. Take the romance package and reserve early. The fine staff at Auburge only have 21 rooms and they go FAST.

My husband and I have stayed at the Auberge du Tresor every year for the past 4 years and we love it. We were introduced by friends and have come with them every time. The history and ambiance is wonderful in keeping with the atmosphere of Quebec. We stay in a front room facing the Frontenac and its great to watch all the passersby. We are literally less than a minute walking to restaurants, shopping, historic sites and artisans. The rooms are a little small but with all to see in Quebec, we don't stay in the room except to sleep. Good bargain in price. We will be there again this August 2005 and wouldn't stay anywhere else.

You can't beat the location, right in the heart of Old Quebec. The food was 5 star and everyone was super friendly. The rooms are small and rather spartan and you'll have to lug your bags up a few stairs, but if you are looking for atmosphere the Auberge du Tresor has it in spades!

I stayed here in September 2003. The Auberge du Tresor is in an excellent location, right in the heart Old Quebec City within the old city walls. It is right next to the famous Chateau Frontenac hotel and just a block from the escarpment overlooking the lower old town and the St. Lawrence River. The hotel looks beautiful from the outside and the price seems very reasonable for the location. However, once you get inside you will realize why this hotel is so affordable. I have stayed in many motels that have had nicer rooms. The rooms and the carpet were dirty and the decor was very plain. I thought this hotel would have some character on the inside especially because the advertisements were promoting this as a romantic hotel. My fiance wanted to leave the hotel immediately and go somewhere else but I convinced her to stay because I liked the location and did not want to deal with looking elsewhere. She was grossed out the whole time. I did not mind it so much, but I used to live in much worse places in college. If they put some money into fixing up the rooms, this place could be really great. It was a great starting base from which to explore the beautiful old town of Quebec City.

stayed 3 nites Oct 6, friends told us it was perfect, on a park and near everything, what they forgot was: small rooms, with bad beds, cold water showers, noisy, had to sleep with windows wide open since room was hot. food in their restaurant was good, get the cooked breakfast deal on booking, saves you money, but you can't eat on their terrace, that's for pricier plans... the romantic dinnner they advertise is very good, excellent food/service, a guitarist serenaded everyone all evening. parking costs $ 11 a day, close by. The hotel would be great once it's refurbished, adds an elevator ( you have to lug your bags up a long flight of stairs to reception area ). I saw that AAA rated this hotel as a 1 star hotel, and I agree. it's cheap, and that's it. many nearby hotels for a bit more, that we'll try next time. liked the nearby Crepe eaterie. order the Table D'Hote at all restaurants for the best deal, includes full meal for less than a la carte pricing...

My husband and I just spent 3 nights at the Auberge du Tresor, and we loved the location and the price. The hotel is a charming building, but the room we had was a bit on the plain side. Another drawback is that the rooms facing the Hotel Frontenac are very noisy - especially in the morning. Notwithstanding the issues, we would stay there again.

Two for two! My wife stayed here on our honeymoon last year and returned this year. One of our traditions is to enjoy champagne and strawberries on the eve of our arrival, a treat made easy courtesy of a nice restaurant below our room. The staff is always courtesy and the prices are hard-to-beat. We love the location, right by an atrisian's row and across from the Chateau du Frotenac! Admittedly, the accomodations are not fancy, but we typically are there only to rest and sleep. We recommend the Auberge du Tresor to anyone
