My wife and I (two photographers) took a 3 hour walking tour of the upper city while on day one of a two day stop of our cruise ship. The buildings, the paintings, the overall architecture were magnificent, as is evidenced by the over 400 pictures the two of us shot. Truly amazing. Can't wait to go back on our own when we can spend an entire day there.

About 300 steps or a funicular ride to upper town is worth it as this is where the Hotel Frontenac is.The hotel is worth a cruise through but i liked just the look better. The walks way around the hotel and sitting on the benches and people watching is good. Walking on level ground makes seeing upper town very easy . The shops ,resturants, goverment building ,and churches are all worth seeing but i enjoyed the parks on the river side the most along with the great views of the river. We had a take out sandwich and ate it in the park, well worth it on a sunny day

What a lovely area to wander around in, explore the Promenade surrounding the Chateau Frontenac, walk up to the Plains of Abraham, and so on. Be sure to take a horse-drawn carriage ride - we shared our buggy with another couple on the sidewalk considering the tour, so that halved the cost. The horses go at a lovely pace to take in all the historic buildings in the area. The funicular is also a "must" - for a few dollars and a few minutes, you are transported from Upper to Lower Town, with great views as you descend. Picturesque murals and streets to wander in Lower Town. If you are taking a cruise to/from the port here, be sure to stay in Quebec pre- or post-cruise for another day or two at least!

We walked all over. There is great shopping, many pubs and restaurants and a lot of sights to see. City was very clean and decorated beautifully for fall.

Great for walking around, many sidewalks, but not real wide. Veiws of port and St Lawrence Seaway were lovely.
