Owner description: One of Québec’s best-kept secrets and one of the most spectacular view of the Old Town. Located at the heart of Old Québec City, the ride (one-way) takes about 12 minutes. During summertime, discover the marked bike paths located on both sides of the shore: Corridor du Littoral (Quebec City) and Parcours des Anses (Lévis). In winter, the mouvement of the ice on the St. Lawrence River is truly impressing.

While I think there are some things to see and do in Levis, many tourists take the short trip across simply to get some neat photos of the city by water. When you buy a ticket they'll ask if you just want to stay on board, since this is what most tourists do - for the main part of the day, the ferry turns around and does the short return trip a few minutes after arriving at Levis.

I love to visit cities and check out the ferries. I recommend the trip from Sausalito to San Fran, the ferry from Manhattan to Staten Island and the one across the Long Island Sound from NY to CT. Now those are trips. You spend time on the water, feel the wind in your hair, have a great view, and enjoy a respite from a hectic day. However, this Quebec-Levis Ferry, if you can call it a trip, was a disappointment. I could have swam across the St. Lawrence in the time it took to get there. A straight line, maybe 1 knot (per hour). Great if you need to get away from the family and have some down time, but you will still be bored. I was hoping to not be disappointed, but I was.

On the ferry you can purchase coffee or snacks from various vending machines and even get change for paper money from a vending machine. Handy for tourists who need change for buses etc. I got a round trip ticket so I could come back right away. The views are quite nice from the ferry. You can stay inside or stand outside. Lots of seating on board.

While there is awfully little to see on the other side of the St. Lawrence River (and while it makes sense to buy a round-trip ticket and just stay on board to go back) the view of Québec from the ferry is magnificent. (The view from the tip of the Ile d'Orléans may be comparable but is much more distant).

We took this because we had read it offered a good river view of the Chateau, which it did. The ride is short, with little time in dock in Levis. What was disappointing was how little there was at the ferry dock. There may have been one eatery some distance off, but it was hard to tell. One wouldn't feel inclined to get off the boat from what one could see from the ferry, and there were no signs promoting what one could see in Levis. Is there anything for tourists to see in Levis?
