“Pleasant Stay”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

We stayed 4 nights at this lovely hotel. The staff were great. The continental breakfast included fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, breads, cheeses and cereals - very nice. As others have stated, the coffee/expresso machine made a great cup, and it is always available. Fresh fruits are also always available. Our room was lovely with 3 windows (one in the bathroom). There is not much privacy possible in the bathroom as the sink, toilet and shower are all in the open.
A couple of nits: two light bulbs were out, these were promptly fixed; one towel per person, we asked for more and they came up right away. The mini-bar frig is not a frig - it might keep something cold for awhile but it will not cool something down.

A great location to start walks but there is a climb to get up to the Frontenac area. We took the train, no need for a car in the old city - the hotel has a fee of course to park. Taxes are steep - the typical 15% on just about everything in Quebec plus an additional lodging tax. We had a great stay; might have given 5 stars but at this price level we're going with 4.

An awesome hotel in the perfect location of Old Port area! Walking distance to everything, wonderfully quiet room and fantastic staff!! The staff are very knowledgeable about all the sights and how to organize your time for maximum effectiveness...if you have time, rent a car and visit Ile d Orleans and Sainte Anne de Beaupre. Highly recommend this hotel!!

Great location and very stylish and comfortable room. No restaurant in hotel, but plenty nearby -You need to walk this city anyway. Decor is modern and was obviously recently renovated. Room are quite large with free Internet.

We stayed three nights in Quebec City at the Germain-Dominion Hotel, the only Andrew Harper recommended property in QC. The location was secluded and quiet, near high end shops, galleries, restaurants and the river, but also easy walking distance (uphill and downhill) to the historic and more heavily tourist jammed areas such as the Chateau Frontenac (great location but overrun with tourists). The Germain-Dominion location is important, because QC is now the start and end point for many large and small cruise ships, who dump many thousands of people into the city every day during August and September, in particular and weekly during other times of the year. Agree with the other reviewers about the quality of the breakfast and the amenities of the hotel and knowledge and courtesy of the staff -- couldn't have been more pleasing. In general, the Quebecois are very friendly, easily switching between French and English in a heartbeat. Free parking is conveniently located behind the hotel. We walked everywhere and enjoyed everything.

Loved the location, in the Old Port area. Very upscale and trendy, but warm and inviting. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. The hotel itself was great. Staff couldn't have been more professional. Room was comfortable and attractive. Great bathroom with lovely Molton Brown amenities. The hotel had a well-equiped gym that was a pleasure to use. The continental breakfast included in the room rate was plentiful. Overall, would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Hotel was well situated, furnishings quite modern in black and white, yet cozy. Continental breakfast excellent. Staff recommended perfect dining experience. We had to cut our trip short due to a family death, and the staff could not have been more cooperative. We will go back.

Great hotel. Loved that it was an old bank. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Recommendations on restaurants were excellent. Continental breakfast was good.... we expected more than a coffee machine. Overall wonderful experience and we would definitely return.
