“Great family vacation”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

This hotel met many of our expectations. The location is very central to everything...the walk to Old Quebec City is less than ten minutes. My children thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor pool area, which included complimentary slush, snacks you could purchase, and a ping-pong table. Room service was great; after going out sightseeing all day we would return to find a very neat and clean room. The views were incredible with the Plains of Abraham and the St. Lawrence river right around the hotel. One drawback is that we read on the hotel's website that there was free wifi in the lobby, but it seemed to always be a hassle to get it. Also, we ordered room service one night and the food was not up to par at all. Take a walk downtown to Rue St. Jean for awesome cafes, ice cream shops and restaurants. On our last day our car would not start and the hotel staff went out of their way to help us get our car started so we could be on our way home. My family and I would definitely stay here again.

The Loews is a nice hotel. We didn't use any ammenities. Its located outside of the main downtown area, about a 20 minute walk but for us we enjoy that. Quebec City is gorgeous and getting into downtown, through the walls is an absolute must. Again, we enjoy the walking.
The area right in front of the hotel, Grande Allee, is very nice too. Lots of restaurants to choose from, patios, and lots of nightlife, clubs, bars.
The online price for the hotel was expensive but I booked off Priceline and saved alot. The only problem is, you don't know what hotel you get when you book with Priceline, until you pay. We got the Loews, and were happy with it.
I would recommend the hotel but if I had to pay the full online prices, I very likely would have looked for something else.
Feel free to email if you have any questions.

I have never written a review on TripAdvisor before but because of my experience at the Loews Le Concorde in Quebec City, I feel compelled to write a review. On vacation I expect to pay higher prices for just about everything, but I feel that hotels often take advantage of their captive travelers. I think it might be better if on arrival hotels just bent you over the front desk and then entire staff takes a shot at you. Just get it over with all at once, otherwise they just spread it out over your entire stay!

1) On arrival we were greeted by the bell hops to receive us and park our car. After we told the bell hop that we wanted to park someplace cheaper, he told us that because of a musical event down the street we wouldn’t be able to access our car during the day, and we’d be better off parking in their (more expensive) garage. His story is not exactly true, there are cheaper garages around if you don’t mind walking a couple of blocks, and the musical event was only in the evening. Thanks for bending me over bell hop man!

2) Then on check-in we had specifically requested for our room to NOT be next to an elevator or ice machine. We were told that because our request was made online, they couldn’t honor it! What’s the point of leaving a note when you make a reservation if it is irrelevant! We had to accept a more expensive room because of that! Ouch – not so hard lady!! This put us in a bad mood about this hotel for the rest of our stay.

3) We then arrive at our room which was nice – to find out that Wi-Fi is not free, not even in the lobby! Bend me over again people!

4) I advise you not to order room service either. In addition to the usual outrageous prices that hotels charge, they charge a 15% service charge, a $2.50 administrative charge, AND tax is not included. Tax in Canada is around 15%! Holy smokes people, don’t bend me over so hard!!

5) So in order to not pay their exorbitant prices for food and drink we ask a lady at the front desk where the closest grocery is located. She asks why we want to know, and hesitantly pulls out a map and shows us 2 locations. Thanks lady for NOT bending us over!

6) THEN we spent a wonderful day out exploring, came back to our hotel (after a rain shower) and found water on our bed sheets, mattress and floor! WTF! The maintenance man who came said that when it rains sometimes the corner rooms get wet! That must mean that they know of this problem, but it’s not yet a big enough priority to fix! WTFF! So at 1:30am we are moved to another room. After the bell hop leaves we realize that in this new room the carpet is wet near the window, and the room smells like mold and mildew! WTFFF!

The hotel did give us 2 free nights in their parking garage for the first wet room, and on check-out gave us the original room rate that we requested. If it weren’t for those 2 actions I would give this hotel a 1 or less, but now I’m giving them a 2. Quebec City is a great place to visit, but we will NEVER visit this hotel again. FIN!

Stayed in a king room with my wife and our dog. Room was large, very comfortable, well decorated and with magnificent views. Although an older hotel, it was well fixed up and service was superb. Revolving restaurant on the top floor had extraordinary views of the city and superb meals. Park across the street was beautiful and a great place for the dog to stretch after a day in the car. Would stay there again.

Hotel staff was very pleasant. The hotel is in serious need though of a cash infusion. The towels are falling apart, the carpets need updating and the rooms need a renovation. The beds were nice and comfortable.

Without informing you, upon checking in, Loews holds a large amount of money against your credit card which they do not refund on settlement of account. They hold it in their bank account earning interest and do not refund until days later. We had to ring them after 2 days leaving the hotel as they still held approx $ 1000. first they said we would have the money returned to our account within 12 hrs of check out then when we phoned them again. They blamed the bank for this "processing delay". If this is standard policy then you would expect them to explain this policy in detail when you check in and to return any frozen credit card funds within 6 hrs of check-out.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Le Concord. Although just outside the Grand Allee gate it was convenient with many patio restaurants on your way into the traditional Old Quebec.

When we arrived there were a large number of quests checking-in to the hotel. The check-in was efficient and very friendly. Our room on the 22nd floor was very clean and spacious;bathroom the same. We never heard a sound from the adjoining rooms or hallway. Of course the view of Quebec City was spectacular.

Our first morning we enjoyed the revolving restaurant breakfast. There are two choices for breakfast; continental or full. Either choice for a buffet style would have be satisfying. Service in the restaurant was friendly.

I decided to park my own vehicle, beware the parking spaces on average are very tight however finding a space without fear of door damage is possible. On the second day I opted for valet parking to save some valuable vacation time.

The heated pool is comfortable and after a long day of touring is a nice way to relax.

The only complaint is the less than consistent internet service, not a serious issue for us personally.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Le Concord and would return without hesitation. Enjoy your stay.
