“Nice location in Old Quebec City”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

It is a nice clean quiet hotel with a great location in Old Quebec I'd call before to confirm correct room reservation if not booking direct, Attached Restaurant is a little over priced (as with everything in Quebec) with upscale European type food, which is really not kid friendly. The valet parking is not on-site like advertised and it is also taxed (as with everything in Quebec)

Room Tip: above 3rd floor and the thousands of school kids visiting in June...

Thank you so much for your comment! We are happy to see that you have enjoyed the location and your experience overall.
It is preferable to book and confirm directly through the hotel, it gives you the best service and options since you are directly connected to our front desk staff who will be glad to assist you. The Charles Baillargé offers an upscale cuisine, but if you are in the mood for something simpler, the bistro menu might fit you and both also offer a full kids menu. The parking facility is accross the street from the hotel, accesible via a tunnel directly connected to the lobby. If you don't want to drive around, we also offer a valet service ($).
Come back to see us whenever you want !
Best regards,

I have just returned from Quebec City with my grade 8 students. We were lucky to stay inside the walls at Hotel Clarendon. This is a historic building within walking distance to all the sites. The hotel itself is well maintained and the rooms are charming. Be aware though, lots of schools visit this hotel in May and June. They did locate us all on one floor so if you want to stay here, then ask where they are locating the schools before you pick a room.
The rooms vary in size and style. Room 309 has a huge king size bed with a sitting area and room 505 has two queens (comfortable) with a nice sized washroom. Some of the rooms are quite tiny so really investigate before you book (one teacher had a room that resembled an oversized closet).
I would return to this hotel with my husband. Even though some parts of the room are worn (my rug was slightly frayed by the washroom door), it would not be a deterrent. My room was very clean and the location is excellent.
Bon Voyage!

Room Tip: Room 309 is a corner room with a big king sized bed. Ask if schools will be visiting during your sta...

Thank you for you review and your stay in our hotel.
The room 309 is located on the corner of the hotel with a king size bed. Those rooms have lots of charm and are bigger with a wonderfull view of Quebec City because of the 4 windows in the room. We are happy that you appreciated.
We look forward to greeting you and your husband soon !

The hotel oozes old world charm, but with the exception of a couple of staff members, there was very little to make you feel welcome. The cocktail bar seemed wonderful, and so we paid it a visit during the advertised cocktail hour, to find it totally empty, with no staff, and no means of calling anyone. After a ten minute wait, we left. Reception staff studiously ignored you if you approached the check in desks, and made their contempt clear if you dared to ask a question which the concierge would be better placed to answer. This coupled with a ridiculously small room, means I wouldn't stay again.

Stayed 2 nights in May. The weather was ghastly but the ambiance and comfort of the hotel were superb. Originally, we were given a very small room, but after speaking to the desk clerk, we were upgraded to a much larger more comfortable room, for a small fee of course. The room was very clean and the bedding was exquisite, actually the softest pillows I've ever slept on. The location is right in the heart of Old Quebec in the "Haute Ville", just a stone's throw from the Chateau Frontenac and many delicious restaurants. Would recommend.

This hotel is in a great location in the Old City. We were able to walk everywhere. As we arrived early coming off a cruise ship, we were able to check our bags and then go sight seeing until our room was ready. The room was a decent size and nice bathroom, very clean.
Highly recommend this hotel if you want to stay in the heart of the old city!

This hotel is located right in the old Quebec City...walkable to any main attractions. Hotel has an historical charm to it, the lobby was beautiful.

The only thing I want to address is the staff at the hotel, except a few front desk staffs were great.
The bell person didn't even see us coming in with our big luggages, it was a raining and windy day and we had to carry in the luggages ourself with two set of stairs...well, half way he finally noticed and came to help us.

This hotel must have very little housekeeping help, as we had to wait 2 hours for our room to be ready. We arrived before 3pm, the lady at front desk said the room is not ready yet and tell us to come back at 3pm. No big deal, we understand the check in is not until 3pm so we went for lunch and walk around town for a bit. We came back at around 3:00pm, room was still not ready. We sat in the lobby area with a few other guests who are waiting for their rooms. We have asked the staff to let us know when it is ready as we are just sitting there. After two hours, the front desk lady left for the day without telling the other staff that we are waiting for the room. I went up to the front desk again to check about our room, and the room was ready. We could have sit there all night and no one knows we are waiting for the room. Other guests who were waiting saw what we did and went up to the front desk as well.

Also, our room was not done everyday until 4:00pm. I think it is quite late, and we usually are back around that time to rest before dinner time. It was very inconvenient for us.

i would probably stay at other hotel if I come to Quebec City again. This place is quite pricy but for the location I guess it is well worth it.

Greetings,
Thank you for your comments, we appreciate having echoes from our guests. We offer you our sincere apologies for the less than optimal service that was given to you and rest assured we will follow up to make sure this singularity does not happen again. We strive to give the best service we can, providing a free storage room for the luggage for our guests arriving before the check-in. We fully understand that dealing with the modern day transportation is sometimes chaotic and guests coming in before 3 pm is an occurence more common depending of the season. The Clarendon House is one of the oldest hotel on the continent, and we intend to honour our glorious past. We send you our warmest salutations, and bid your farewell.

This hotel was great! We visited in May 2013 - the hotel has a great location and a great staff! It's especially a great hotel for walking around Old Quebec. The rooms were a bit small, but super cute and really clean and nice. Highly recommended!
