We drove into Quebec City after dark. It was snowing and we hadn't booked a hotel. We tried a couple of places but they didn't appeal and then we found this hotel in the old part of the city. It was early in the new year and very quiet so they had vacancies. Rates were really competitive and for just a few dollars extra a full breakfast for two was included in the price. Our room was a good size with a great view over the city. Bathroom was on the small side but that wasn't a deal breaker.
Hotel staff was courteous and friendly and happy to help with any queries we had. It was late when we arrived on the first night so we had dinner in the hotel restaurant. We had the restaurant all to ourselves that night but were still offered full choice from the dinner menu. The food and service was very good.
The hotel has an interesting history. It started off as a house in 1858 and became a hotel in 1870, making it one of the oldest, if not the oldest, hotels in old Quebec. It is very close to Le Chateau Frontenac, the statue of Samuel de Champlain (the founder of Quebec City) and great views over the city and the St Lawrence river.
