“Beautiful Hotel”
Reviewed September 28, 2012

Spent one night at the hotel (business trip) and it is a beautiful place as stated by others. There are two sides to the hotel we were on street address 37 and had a king room and it was certainly fit for a king - the bed was featherly soft and comfy, beautiful clawfoot tub, small kitchen and a huge rocking chair to read a book in - there was a loft as well but we didn't have access to it for it was extra $. It felt like a home away from home and for my husband who hates sleeping in a hotel admited he never had such a good sleep in a hotel - he thought it felt like a bedroom not a hotel room. The welcome desk and breakfast was served in the other side of the hotel - so you had to leave your hotel and go into another door with a key to the side (39). breakfast included yogurt, cheese, crossants, etc. Our room was up 2 flights of stairs so for those who have mobility issues please inquire. Also if you have a larger vehicle pls. let the owner know in advance - we parked behind a church (15$) and it was very safe there. You are steps away from St. Louis Street and the Chateau Frontenac - so it is in a great location. The owner is a wonderful woman and she is there to help and assist in any way she can. I would live at this hotel if I had to stay in the area for any length of time.

Room Tip: King room on 37 Ave.

This is a beautiful old home turn small hotel. Our room was very nicely appointed and the antique furnishings quaint. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The location is wonderful (between Chateau Frontenac and the Citadel) on a quiet street. If you come looking for a five course breakfast, you will be disappointed. We found more than adequate however. The terrace was a nice place to have a glass of wine or cup of tea. The parking was quite close by and seemed very safe in a church parking lot. We enjoyed our stay at Cap Diamant very much and will come again if we're ever in Quebec in future.

Room Tip: Room #9 is downstairs so more easily assessible. A lttle more noise from the street though but not...

The room my wife and I had was wonderful. It faced the street, and across the street was a park. We awoke each morning to a lovely view of trees. The street is very quiet, so it was easy to sleep with the window open. The furnishings were antique. The house and the room both reminded us of a very old (in a good way) establishment. Between the European feel in Quebec City itself and the hotel we felt as if we were in Paris at times. The location was perfect. It was only a few blocks from the Grand Allee and the Chateau Frontenac both. The staff were wonderful to us, the room was always clean and the arrangements they made for parking (for us) were perfect. I would agree with another reviewer that the continental breakfast doesn't get high marks, but my wife and I aren't really big breakfast people, so this really didn't bother us. In addition, the air conditioning unit is an 'in wall' unit and it doesn't cool the room down quickly. We found it advantageous to stop by before dinner and turn the unit on then. In this way the room was quite cool by the time we came in for the night. Two things I should add. One, in reading the reviews its clear that there is some confusion over the Cap Diamant Hotel and the Cap Diamant B & B. For good reason! They're owned by the same family and they are right next door to one another. Many of the bad reviews I read were for the B & B. The B & B is number 37 Avenue St. Genevieve and the hotel at 39. Two, if you decide to stay here, you should tell them you want to stay in the hotel. The only reason I say this is, the professional photos are all of the hotel, not the B & B. We stayed at the hotel. This review is for the hotel.

Room Tip: There are 3 floors and no elevator. I would stay on the 1st or 2nd floor. Our room faced the street...

This is in the centre of it all, but quiet enough for a fantastic and very comfortable nights sleep. Our room had a mini-fridge,plus lovely antiques. The atrium area in the back was gorgeous with a little fountain/waterfall. We enjoyed a beer there at the end of the day. The dumb waiter for luggage and decor were very authentic. We stayed in the king room for $174, but with a lovely breakfast, it was well worth it!

While the location offers easy availability to the city and its wonderful art, food, and character, breakfasts were, at best, wanting. (The only thing we looked forward to was the automatic coffee maker, as the remaining fare was so lacking that we went to a local grocery for a box of cereal, and milk, to have for the five days during out stay.) The sweet hostess, who has been at her bed and breakfast for 41 years, was kindly, with good recommendations for restaurants, but the rooms were dated, with somewhat disappointing bath facilities. Staff were pleasant, but offered nothing out of the ordinary.

Room Tip: The larger rooms are a bit more pleasant; we had to relocate to accommodate other reservations durin...

Quiet and restful garden welcomes you back after wandering the delightful streets of Quebec. It's hard to believe you are just 2 blocks from the lively restaurants and Chateau Frontenac.
The hotel is beautifully furnished and decorated and the bed was one of the best.
A great deal. We will be back.

Our visit to Quebec City was certainly enhanced by the accommodations at the Cap Diamant Hotel. A small hotel that has been remodeled while keeping the historic charm of the building and area. Inside the owner has added antiques to create the old world charm in these historic buildings. Very clean, very quiet, very comfortable beds! The owner is also very willing to talk about the historic past of the hotel and the area. Hotel is situated only four blocks from the Chateau Frontenac and 2 blocks from the entrance to the Citadel. Many excellent restaurants within walking distance.

Room Tip: This hotel was built before elevators so if stairs are a concern you may want to look elsewhere. Th...
