I always love to go to Europe, but lately that has been difficult with the rising costs of airfare, hotels, food, etc. So, this year I went to Quebec City which preserves the old-world feeling of provincial France and yet is easy to get to, and reasonably priced. I loved the French spoken everywhere, the musicians on every corner, the small ethnic restaurants which served delicious and reasonably priced food, and the summer climate in August. It was a great experience to walk everywhere, going from the upper to the lower town by foot or funicular, to sit at a cafe and watch the interesting people stroll by, and to talk with the native Quebec residents. They are friendly, proud of their city, and conscientious. I learned about their culture, what it is like during the winter, and how they survive the heavy snows. I loved the B&Bs on our block, within walking distance to the center of town. Everything impressed me about this city.
