The facility is very modern, and has an incredible sense of style. They recently decided to add the neighboring prison to the overall square footage and result is spectacular. The permanent exhibits include a great deal of native art and the attractions are equally impressive. Word of warning, most of the exhibits end before labor day so plan your trip accordingly. We had a wonderful time. One of the women who worked there gave us an overview of the entire facility and even, asynchronously, found out for us what other exhibits were available at another museum. She came and found us to give the information we needed. Awesome!

Beautifully designed museum filled with interesting permanent and visiting exhibits. Small in comparison to big city art museums, but filled with quality work. And they have a lovely restaurant.

Entry is free, but you have to pay for special exhibits. You need at least 3 hrs to see the core of it. I was a little disappointed by the 20th century collection of Quebec artists. The special exhibit on surrealist women was great.

Visited on a rainy day in August 2012. Museum nestled in the side of Plains of Abraham park and consists to two distinct wings, one was formerly a prison building that has been beautifully remade.

Permanent collection with several different parts which is free to visit. We viewed the Inuit art and art from the colonial period of Quebec. Neither collection was very large but both interesting for visitor from USA.

Paid extra fee of about CAD 15 per adult to see the temporary exhibition "Au Pays de Merveilles" featuring surrealist paintings by women artists from North America. Included four or five Frida Kahlo pieces which was a nice surprise.

We had lunch in the cafe which was better that we might have expected; good sandwiches and soup with some different offerings (Vietnamese sandwich, soup "asiatique" which looked alot like pho, veggie eggplant wrap). Not the cheapest but quite nice, tucked away on lower level of the former prison building.

As of August 2012 a major expansion project is underway to develop an entire new wing across the street from the current wings.

Worth a visit if you have a bad weather day during your visit to Quebec.

Just did the permanent collection free. Nice variety of art of Canadian artists and Native Inuits. The Tower and actual prison cells was cool.
