Owner description: This elevated area offers panoramic views of Old Quebec and the St. Lawrence River. Winter adrenalin junkies line up by the thousands at Les Glissades de la Terrasse to experience the rush of zooming downhill from 270 feet high (82 meters) in a toboggan speeding up to 60 mph (90 kilometers per hour) to the bottom 500 feet (152 meters) away. Located on the Dufferin Terrace overlooking the St. Lawrence River behind Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, the ride is open from mid-December through late March.

“Enjoyable - walk and stop.”

Note: There are a few musicians singing with recorded music and selling their CD's = if you don't want to hear the music (we didn't) continue walking towards the end away from the Frontenec - you will be happier. Enjoyed the view from our bench overlooking the St. Lawrence. We could tell that local people were jogging along the wooden planks. There are a few "look down" areas shielded by clear plastic to see some old pottery dug up in the past which is enjoyable to take a glance at. It is an easy walking experience, no hills. We had a picnic on a bench facing the waterfront towards the very end and it was quiet and quaint. That slide / metal item / if you are there in the summer and wonder what it is......... it fills with ice/snow and families slide down it during the winter months. I had to ask - oh, that would be fun !! but, we went in summer - so it's not in use. Put this on your to do list for about 1 hour if you walk the entire length and stop a bit to gaze about.

...cause the views here are beyond gorgeous! Love the street performers and the gelato as well. You can easily spend an afternoon here and never be bored for a second.

“Good Views”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013

The Terrasse is actually a long board walk. You can stroll from end to end or take your time and sit on one of the many benches for a while. Good views of the St. Lawrence and Chateau Frontenac. Street performers ore often to be seen. While many of them were amateurs, the crowd, particularly the children were attentive. There are plastic bubbles in a few spots near the Chateau. Look down to see original pieces of wall and other archeological artifacts. You can go down to see the entire display but there is a fee. I have an extensive 4 day itinerary for Quebec City. If you would like a copy leave me a thread in the Quebec City Forum.

“Great views on an east stroll”

We always come here first to reorient ourselves. There are great views along the river and usually some street musicians. It's worth continuing on at the end to reach the other side of the Citadelle.

“Good stroll, especially in summer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Long boardwalk to have the good view of the Saint Laurent and the Château Frontenac. Can be very windy. If you don't have time for it, it is not a big deal.
