Love this historic hotel.

Only complaints was lack of drawers for clothing and plugs especially at the bedside.

Great very friendly staff!

Easy walk to so many restaurants and attractions in Old Quebec City.

Stayed at le Chateau for a night in May 2014 while on a business trip. All around a great experience.

First off the building is wonderful. I've stayed at most of the old CP hotels that Fairmont now operates and I have to say le Chateau is many notches above other like the Empress in Victoria or Royal York in Toronto.

I had an excellent room on the Fairmont Gold floor. The hotel is under heavy renovation at the moment but it did not impact my stay at all. The location is fantastic as it is right on the river, next door to a huge park area and a < 15min walk to the Grand Allee Est that has a number of bars & restaurants with enticing patios.

Service was also excellent. I forgot a ring in my room which I discovered when I arrived at the airport. Not enough time to go back. The hotel staff when to the room immediately upon calling (in fact she went while I held the call), found the ring and I arranged for a colleague who was leaving later to pick it up. Fanastic.

Le Chateau is top of the list for my next visit to Quebec.

Things are chaotic as the Chateau has a much needed refurb. Views are interrupted, restaurants closed and inside is not at its best, but hopefully it will return to its old grandeur, because it is a special place and Quebec needs it as a special attraction. Special people staff the Chateau and they will assist whenever possible. Unfortunately they didn't provide an information pack (other Fairmonts do) about the local restaurants (or maybe the local restaurants don't need it) and attractions. Portiffino, Conti and Aux Anciens Canadiens (fantastic local game pie and Bison stew) were our picks. The price is expensive especially with all the work going on, but it is special.

Room Tip: Book a view of the old town- and confirm two days before that you have it or cancel.

This hotel is enormous and can be seen from just about anywhere in the very beautiful Quebec City.

The decor is very nice and the lobby reception area is quite beautiful. The staff was friendly and met all of our needs. There was a large formal party (i assume a wedding reception) one night and despite the large size, the hotel was plenty big for that group to not rally overtake the whole place.

The room was comfortable and the beds were as good as I've had at a hotel. The bathrooms weren't the best but they got the job done.

The Wifi is not free unless you have a Fairmont account. It was actually quite expensive as well.

This building is absolutely stunning, hands down the most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed at. That said we didn't feel like it was worth the price. The service was worse than some 3 star hotels we've stayed at. We stayed for 4 nights and our minibar that was half empty when we checked in was not filled the entire duration of our stay. The hotel was extremely busy and you could tell that the staff was trying but there simply wasn't enough staff to keep up. Normally I wouldn't really complain about it but at $400 a night I expect the hotel to be staffed properly. The building really is amazing but we left feeling like the money we paid was not nearly worth the experience.

Spent a night in May at le Chateau. The hotel underwent some great renovations and looks and feels better than ever. Our room overlooked the river from the side of the hotel and had 4 small windows and a lot of character. Nice to get the cool draft in the room from the river at night. The bed was super and the room was very comfortable. Really worth it for the charm and perfect location. No issue at all except maybe for some confusion (3 times) at the front desk regarding magnetic keys. A must if visiting Quebec City. You won't be disappointed.
