Owner description: These 275-foot falls on the Montmorency River tower higher than even the legendary Niagara Falls. The 2013 season promises to be exhilarating for people who will visit Parc de la Chute-Montmorency – Montmorency Falls, the second most visited site of the provincial capital after Old Quebec. The highlight of all the new summer activities is certainly the opening of two via ferrata routes built in the Boischatel fault near the waterfalls. Via ferrata – this is Italian for “iron roads” - is an activity accessible to everyone over 12 years old that combines hiking and rock climbing. The two paths are built on the rock face on the eastern side of the waterfall. The less adventurous will also be able to get stunning views of the 83-meter high waterfall aboard the cable car which now runs with sparkling new cabins. History buffs will be glad to know that guided tours are now offered each weekend in the company of Sir Frederick Haldimand, who served as Governor of Quebec from 1778 to 1786 and Mathilde Robin, best known as the Lady in White, who lost her fiance during the Montmorency Battle in 1759. Guided tours are offered in French or English until Labour Day weekend.

We visited the falls as part of a tour. This is a don't miss attraction. You get to the falls via some pretty steep hills but the view is fabulous! There is a very nice gift shop at the falls. We saw the falls after a week of rain so they were very powerful. It was a nice outing.

Romantic boardwalk, impressive 275 ft drop for top to bottom of falls (40% higher than 165 ft drop of the Niagara Falls) and a historic appeal that curious travelers will enjoy.
5 mins from the city center (bottom of falls) and roughly 10 minutes from the city center to the top of the falls by car.
No regrets from leaving the city just a bit!

We caught the number 800 bus from in the city out to the falls. Ask for details at any of the information centres. The trip took about twenty minutes and cost $6 return for the trip - much cheaper than taking an organised tour.

The falls were amazing and the colours of the trees was the most abundant display that we saw during out time in Quebec. The falls can be viewed from the bridge or you can walk down lots of steps to the base of the falls and then catch the cable car back up or walk if you are fit. There is a nice restaurant and the usual gift/souvenir shop.

Overall one of our more memorable days spent in Quebec.

It was late oct and late in the day when we visited here. IT was very cool ,the mist from the falls was like a cold shower, but when the lights came on it was well worth it. Its deffinetly worth a visit ,and its only a local bus ride away.

Thank you for taking the time to comment about your visit at Montmorency Falls and show your appreciation of the site. Your advice about visiting the falls in the evening is definitely a good tip since it gives visitors the chance to admire the waterfalls with the beautiful color lights. I would like to point out however that the are no services available to visitors in the evening during the off season, but the site is indeed still accessible.

Plan on coming back in the wintertime, the waterfall and its sugar cone are really impressive. Ice climbing is available for a fee.

We hope you come see us again !
