Owner description: These 275-foot falls on the Montmorency River tower higher than even the legendary Niagara Falls. The 2013 season promises to be exhilarating for people who will visit Parc de la Chute-Montmorency – Montmorency Falls, the second most visited site of the provincial capital after Old Quebec. The highlight of all the new summer activities is certainly the opening of two via ferrata routes built in the Boischatel fault near the waterfalls. Via ferrata – this is italien for “iron roads”, is an activity accessible to everyone over 12 years old that combines hiking and rock climbing. The two paths are built on the rockface on the eastern side of the waterfall. The less adventurous will also be able to get stunning views of the 83-meter high waterfall aboard the cable car which now runs with sparkling new cabins. History buffs will be glad to know that guided tours are now offered each weekend in the company of Sir Frederick Haldimand, who served as Governor of Quebec from 1778 to 1786 and Mathilde Robin, best known as the Lady in White, who lost her fiancé during the Montmorency Battle in 1759. Guided tours are offered in French or English until Labour Day weekend.

The visitors' center was very nice, the trail to the top of the falls was very walkable, and the photo ops were numerous. Fresh, clean air, fall colors - doesn't get any better!

OK, you've seen lots of waterfalls, but it is still worth seeing these and taking the gondola up to the Manoir, crossing the bridge and descending the stairs (masochists and triathletes can go up the 410 steps) for truly stupendous views of the 'Chute'.

This is a great place for the family and nature aficionados to spend a few hours at a great location only 20 min drive from Quebec. This is something you may not know. When you get to the main entrance to the park, you will require to pay $10.00. Park and walk to the main building. Go thru the building and follow the path to the bottom of the fall. The scenery is just beautiful. When you get there, you will notice a set of stairs that will take you to the top of the falls. For the adventure and fit, go for it. If you are elderly or not wiling to follow the steps, ....Here is the secret.. you can use the same parking stub you have to enter the parking to the Manoir Montmorency, located on the top of the hill. HOW TO GET THERE - Return to your car, exit the park and make a right turn, right turn on Cote Saint Gregoire to Blvd, De Chute, right turn, to the entrance to the park. Show your parking stub and you are in. Park and then walk around to the top of the fall and suspension bridge. If you need to enter the address in GPS, 2490 Ave. Royale, Beauport, QC. Hopefully this helps. The Cable car...skip it.

On a recent trip to Quebec City 4 of us decided to get a taxi to drive us up to Montmorency Falls (6th October). We took the $9.50 gondola ride up the left side of the 270 foot falls and walked up and accross the falls, through a beautiful fall-colors forrest and down the stairway making a full circle around the falls area. There are multiple vantage points that will give you tons of picture taking opportunites. From lower Quebec City and back we did it in just over 1.5 hours and the taxi fare was only $65 plus tip (we had an excellent taxi driver that spoke pretty good English). Really enjoyed
