“An excellent journey”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

We have spent an excellent four days trip to this lovely B & B. Warm people and an amazing hospitality and professionalism. The place and conditions are wonderful, canoeing and kayaking on the lake is an experience you cannot easily forget. The room we stayed is large enough to easily accommodate four people and it is very nice, clean and quiet. You could have the breakfast on the terrace or inside, depending on the weather.

From the B & B location you can visit attractions like: Village Valcartier, the old (and new) city of Quebec, the Island of Orleans, and this is only to name a few of them.

Thank you.

I must thank the Trip Advisor writers who encouraged me to try this lovely B&B. Not only was the lake-view property and gardens well maintained, the warm welcome and hospitality were also great. The rooms are immaculately clean and well appointed. The best thing about this place, however, are the owners who work very hard to ensure that their guests are well looked after. For example, after the super-ample and delicious breakfast (tons of fresh fruit), Pierre took the time to give us a detailed overview of the area and he provided excellent suggestions for day trips.

We decided to go to the nearby wetland, Le marais du nord (ten minutes by car), which proved to be an excellent opportunity to get fresh air and exercise as well as spectacular photographs. My husband took a fabulous shot of a bright gold and black coloured woodland warbler (a male common yellowthroat). We also spotted some lilac-coloured fringed woodland orchids as well as an astonishing variety of colourful fruiting mushrooms. As we were enjoying our picnic, we watched an American bittern soar over the marsh.

On previous trips, we've typically spent most of our time in Quebec City. Thanks to our B&B hosts who engage with and care about their guests, we found a nearby nature reserve, which is a beautiful hidden treasure.

I highly recommend this B&B. It has everything: great hosts, excellent breakfasts, comfortable accommodation, as well as canoes and kayaks. The B&B is situated in a gorgeous area that offers canoeing, kayaking and hiking in scenic wetland. It's also close to Quebec City. As well, there are excellent, nearby local restaurants too. We plan to return on our next trip to Quebec!

Thank you for your beautiful comments.

We are very happy that we showed you another unknown face of Quebec City that you didn’t know even if you came a few time in the city.

The surrounding nature areas are as interesting as the city and we are very well centralized to all of those activities (within 15 to 20 minutes drive to every tourist activities)

Next time we will try to show you some other hidden treasure of our beautiful city ;-)

Our large family group loved our weekend stay at this bed and breakfast. We will miss the tasty breakfasts and the warm and cozy rooms. We were most impressed by Pierre and Linda and their warm hospitality. They worked hard to connect with us, advise us on local attractions, or make our stay more comfortable. The lakefront is beautiful and the kayaking/canoeing was splendid.

If you are visiting the area, willing to so and want an experience that combines the best of urban and rural life, we would highly recommend this B&B.

Thank you very much. We are very happy that you took the time to register and put your FIRST comment on tripadvisor about your stay with us.

We really enjoyed the time we spent with all of your family members and the confidence that you showed us by kayaking on the lake for the 1st time for most of you, and especially grandmother and grandfather that were the oldest students I’ve ever teach kayaking… and they learned very fast

Hope to see you back someday for lesson number 2: Skating on the frozen lake in winter time ;-)

We were welcomed by David, the owner who gave us a tour of the place and showed us to our room. For the timid, David speaks very good English so no need to be concerned with that. The place was outstanding. The room itself was small but the amenities of the common living room and the site more than made up for this. Linda, David's partner made the breakfast and it was awesome. We stayed for two days and both times the breakfast was different and above average in quality of the food and the presentation. When you are there, I hope that you get to try Linda's bagel soakded in maple syrup, with an egg cooked in the centre, covered with cheese. There were a few calories in it but it was worth it. The kitchen in this Gite ( B and B) is amazing. David not only showed us the kitchen but showed us where he lived. He is very proud of his daughters and showed us a wooden model that was made that was intended to be an ice sculpture at the Quebec Carnival. These people are passionate and ideal B and B hosts. They spent time with us and everyone else at breakfast to discuss things to do in Quebec Ctiy which is about 15 minutes away.

My husband and I spent a night at Le Gite du Hu-Art in April 2013. That was a best time ever we have spent. The room was spotlessly clean and the view from the room was wonderful. They provided nice homemade breakfast(huge!!) and even asked us if we had any issues with foods such as allergies, vegetarian and so on. We are planning to go back there for next vacation in summer. They have several activities to do around the area. Beautiful location...and on top of that, the owners are wonderful and helpful. I definitely recommend Le Gite du Hu-Art to anyone who has a plan to stay over in Quebec city!

We are the FIRST and only review you have put on tripadvisor… and for us it means a lot!!! You took the time to register and put in words your experience at our B&B and decided to share it with the Tripadvisor community!!!

Because customer satisfaction is our primary goal, This is the best reward we could get from our guests!!!

We hope, next time, you will be able to come in a better time of the year to be able to enjoy water activities on the lake in summer time, hiking in the colourful forests in autumn season or skating on the frozen lake in winter time… So many reasons to come back and taste other different loon surprise breakfasts (we have about 10 different ones)

Thanks again and hope to see you back soon ;-)
