We did the Grand Walking Tour as well as the boat tour. Walking tour was great, boat tour I wouldn't recommend. Our walking tour guide was outstanding - knowledgeable and friendly and helped to cater to us since we had our 2 year old daughter in a stroller. Rainy day, but still a great one! The commenter on the boat tour was good, but the trip was just nothing special. I felt that there was not a lot to see on the boat tour.

Thank Martha G

This is not a terrible tour, but it was less than what I wanted.

We visited multiple food establishments, and it seemed to me more like commercials for the restaurants, than a true representation of what kinds of foods are available in the city. Yes, the samples were interesting enough, and yes the stories provided by the representatives about their places were engaging, but too much hype for me. There was less history of the city than I expected, but plenty of walking.

We decided on this tour so we could see the outer area of Quebec and the Montmorency Falls. The falls were great to see up close but we needed at least another half hour. This could have been achieved if we weren't taken to a private copper gallery which we personally had no interest in. We prefer to see more of the countryside and thought that this is what this tour was meant for. However, instead the places we stopped at (apart from the falls) were somewhere to buy food, drink and other items. When taken to Island of Orléans there were places we could have stopped at to get food/drink that had a view but instead we were taken to the fine chocolate shop and cafe with no view. We also stopped at a maple and bread place. The church was interesting. Unfortunately there was a funeral in progress at the time but this couldn't be helped.
What made it worse was the driver/tour guide sounded totally bored with it all (bordering on arrogance) and quite negative sounding. This made it difficult to listen to him and put a real dampener on the trip. It seemed also that he was peeved that he had to speak in English because everyone except for two people were English speaking.
We did at least get out of Quebec City and did see the falls and the Island of Orléans from the bus but it felt like all it was really about was getting commission from the places we were taken to.

We arranged this tour through our own hotel. For our family of four, it was similar in price, then if we had joined a group tour. It was wonderful because the tour guide was told to show up at our hotel. That was so convenient!

We got an entire tour of the old city in the lower part, and then we climbed the streets to the upper area by the Fairmont Hotel Frontenac. She walked us in and around art shops, monuments, pointed out all the museums, and we walked among famous parks and buildings.

I would highly recommend taking a walking tour with this group on your first day in Quebec. It is a wonderful way to really get a good feel for the city, and to identify what you prefer to see on your vacation, which you can come back to --at a later time.

The tour guide was great because we told her that we really enjoyed history, and so she focused a LOT on history. It really kept our teenagers engaged!
Here's a tip! Be sure to give your guide some "advice" of what you are specifically interested in – – maybe you like lots of information on museums, or churches, the local artists or history on the military. They did a fantastic job of accommodating our preferences.

Please press "helpful" if you found this review insightful, as I wonder if anyone actually reads these.......

We took the walking tour with Pierre. He was so knowledgeable and gave a lot of information about the history of the city. It took over 2 hours to complete the tour but it is not a hard walk. We had a 12:00 tour on a Wednesday, and there were about 8 of us in the group. Pierre did an excellent job answering questions and covering so much information. He also gave tips on restaurants and places for souvenirs. We highly recommend Pierre and this tour.
