Good food, Very nice proprieter, but not thrilled with being sat elbow to elbow with the diners on either side of our table. It may has well have been one large communal table. Lacking ambience - music, lighting etc. Hard to have a conversation without sharing...

The food and services was excellent.. Small but cozy atmosphere . Get there before to busy.. The bison ravioli with wild mushrooms is a must.. All have a personality there at Cafe Bistro du Cap... An experience to remember . Chefs are so close you can tell them personally how good the meal is....

The choices we made did not rate as great. I had the fixed price menu: Spinach soup and salmon were ok but the creme caramel toffee / sauce was slightly burnt (I make this regularly and know how easy it is to burn but I wouldn't ever serve it up if I did) so I only ate the custard which was also just ok. My husband had tempura prawns and the batter was soggy and the pike was ok but the cheese sauce a bit overpowering. The wine was good but overall not a gourmet experience.

The Bistro du Cap is a small very French bistro on du Sault au Matelot in the lower part of the old town. It is outdoor street side dining at its best. The sea food chowder is excellent. The green salads are very crisp with just the right amount of dressing. The pan fried yellow perch was cooked to perfection. The service was extremely friendly. The creme brulee was excellent. There was no pepper and salt shaker on the table and none were needed. All the food was cooked and seasoned to perfection.

It was the perfect little bistro for a romantic dinner. Great value between 6-7pm with a price fixed meal with soup or salad, chicken or salmon entree and dessert for $25. We also ordered a la carte the seafood chowder, bison ravioli in mushroom cream sauce and lamb shank which were all superb. Good sized portions for the entrees. Service was very good. Impressed with how hard the older owner/chef and his wife work at their family business. Best meal we had in Canada.
