This hotel is 5 to 10 minutes walking from the train station. It is on a busy street but the traffic noise is minimal at night. It is a few steps from the Museum of Civilization and its an easy walk into the quaint streets of Lower town. Many good restaurants are nearby and it is also close to the "market" on the seaside bike path. We prepaid and got a good rate. The room came with a kitchen area and separate bedroom. We liked the hotel. Breakfast was reasonable. It is an easy walk to Upper town.

Our deluxe suite on the 2nd floor, (actually 3rd since the 1st floor is considered the ground floor), was ready as reserved when we arrived for our five day stay. It was a 1/2 hr. ride from the airport which is a fixed rate of $35.00 Cnd. $ - very reasonable for 2 couples, however squeezing in the luggage was challenging. It is an old charming building, located at the corner of Rue St. Paul and Rue St. PIerre - a very central location across from the waterfront; the rooms are spacious, modern and clean, there is a kitchen that is equipped for cooking. A pub is located on the ground floor as well as a restaurant, just across the road there are good restaurants as well.

You can pick up a double decker tour bus about one block away in front of the Museum of Civilization. The Ecolobus (electric mini bus) runs every 15 minutes and stops across the road from the hotel, for a fee of $2 you can ride to inside the walled old town and take in the attractions, restaurants and shopping - the Tourist information Centre at 12 Rue Sainte-Ann is most helpful with directions, maps and most organized tours stop outside their door which is a stone's through from the entrance to Chateau Frontenac.

Room Tip: Our deluxe suite was located on a corner and had several windows which opened for the breezes to blo...

Just a quick one night stay, it was everything that was previous reviews promised . Pretty safe hotel bet for Quebec City

Great Historic Location
Clean and spacious room
Charming decor
Amicable Staff
Free Wifi

Not much else to say for our short 12 hour stay, other then, when I return to QC, the Le Port-Royal will still be on our list

This hotel is located a convenient 5 minute walk from the train station and within walking distance to the upper city (use the funicular to avoid the steps). We enjoyed having a kitchenette since we felt the breakfast was pricey at $12 per person. There is a grocery store a block away and a convenience store in the gas station next door.

The Musee is around the corner and is excellent.

The room was an adequate size and recently renovated but could have done with a comfortable chair. All that was provided was a bistro table and chairs and the bed. we wondered if it was true that Expedia guests get the worst rooms!

After spending significantly less in Montreal for a hotel room that provided much more for our money; we felt the Port Royal was a bit overpriced, but this could be because Quebec City tends to be more expensive.

All in all a good experience and special thanks for the free Internet!

We loved this hotel. The young people who work there were so positive and helpful. Our room was very modern and comfortable. The location could not have been better: it's a short walk to excellent restaurants, the old walled city, the port, museums, shopping, even an amazing farmer's market. Parking was right in front in their own parking lot. A great little hotel in a great city.

We stayed 2 nights in a Superior Room.

The location of the hotel is wonderful, right in the middle of the Old City, a walking distance from everything. Parking was a bit tricky, but we got there during a cycling event where pretty much all the neighborhood was closed, so it was to be expected. We were able to walk around the city and visit a lot, never needing our car. So that's a big plus.

On the downside, we were a little disappointed with the room... We booked a Superior Room, but it didn't feel "superior"... We felt like we were staying in a mid-improvements room. They placed nice furniture around, but everything else felt... raw. There were holes in the walls from previous brackets that were not filled, patches of cement in some places, scratched paint on the wall from moved furniture, etc. It actually had the feeling of an old apartment converted into a hotel room, but without work to make it feel refreshed. Like they said "let's keep it as is and call it modern". It was comfortable, but didn't feel like a superior room in the least.

And if you're easily bothered by noise, exposed piping all around means no noise isolation whatsoever... It wasn't a big problem for us, but it's worth knowing. We had a lot of fun explaining the screaming in the next bedroom to our 2yo...

Overall, it's a great location, kitchen and separate bedroom are nice to have, especially with kids, but the place needs a serious refresh... It felt shabby, despite the higher-end furniture.

I arrived at 6 am to check in at this well-positioned Quebec hotel. I was coming in on the overnight train service from Halifax NS and I did warn them! It took 4 hours to get a room. I cannot blame the reception staff for that, though the reservations staff could offer the option to book a room for early arrival and pay extra.

Putting that aside, the staff were very friendly and eager to give directions. The room itself was enormous, with a kitchenette and king bed. It was very dark in the room. Close inspection showed that everything was clean but needed a paint job. The seal around the bath was pretty shabby and the bathroom needed a bit of paint. Overall nothing to complain about, but time to refresh.

One note: i did ask the concierge about a restaurant about 200m from the hotel and he had not heard of it! I am glad I persisted as the food was excellent!
