My Mother taught me that if I did not have anything nice to say about someone (or something) that I should say nothing at all ...

This was my third time staying here ... (First time was bad, second time was bad, and the third time was the clincher). I gave it an honest try ...

I will not be back.

We had a corner room, room 200, this overlooked the Ecobus stop and gas station but we didn't find it a problem as the double glazing kept all sound out. Might be a problem in summer as it could be very noisy with windows open. The room was very modern and the only item we had to ask for was a drainer for our dishes as there was no inbuilt drainer to the sink. Toiletries were replenished daily. Very good location and an easy walk to the Funiculaire which costs $2 each to take you up inside the city walls - saves the long climb up lots of steps. No supermarket nearby but the gas station next door has a shop for essentials. Lots of places to eat nearby. The washing machine was not working while we were there but the staff were fantastic and arranged to have it all done for us! The staff were fantastic and we found them really helpful. We travelled by train and, although we had a taxi to the hotel, it is within walking distance if you don't have a lot of luggage. The best supermarket and SAQ is just a little further on past the train station, a 15 minute walk from the hotel.

Would have given 5 stars but found the lighting very poor in our apartment. Didn't fancy the menu in the on site restaurant.

Room Tip: Just ask the staff as all the rooms are different.

A perfect match of old world charm with modern conveniences. Walking distance to cruise port, farmer's market, many restaurants and fine shopping. All the conveniences of home in a lovely, spacious suite overlooking a busy urban setting. A longer walk to Upper Town, or short cab ride. Adding laundry facilities would be a plus.

The Hotel Le Port-Royal is THE place to stay in Québec City. It is a total gem, and I wouldn’t even consider staying anywhere else. It is perfectly positioned to explore the charming streets of Old Québec (by day or by night, and you must do both!) AND at the same time it has on-site parking. I was impressed with the parking; there were more spaces, all right in front of the hotel, than I’d expected in a downtown establishment, and never once was the lot completely full, so we always had a place to park.

The staff is friendly and attentive. It’s nice to have the front door opened for you every now and then, and you get that at the Port-Royal. The décor is very posh, both inside and out. The elevator is the size of those in continental Europe—meaning, a bit small by North American standards, and tucked away discreetly around a corner instead of being front-and-centre when you first walk in the hotel. I don’t mind that, and except for check-in and check-out, when we had our luggage, we made use of the stairs instead.

And then there’s the room. Well, a suite, actually. We were expecting nice accommodations, but we were floored at just HOW nice. It was all awesome. The lights were dim and welcoming when we entered the room, and the high-quality sound system was turned to a Classical channel playing medieval music (two HUGE thumbs up in my book, for the lighting and the music! Loved it!) Strong wi-fi, with access info provided (it may not seem like much but I hate checking into a place and having it be a big secret what the wi-fi password is…at the Port-Royal, they wrote it down for us upon check-in, without even having to ask…NICE!)

The furniture in the living room was comfortable, with a big modern flat-screen TV and a good range of multilingual channels. A nice big desk, a table for four, a fully-stocked kitchen (which we made use of!)…comfortable bed, really cool-looking unfinished brick and stone walls here and there which gave it a very metropolitan look, yet one that even this country boy could appreciate. Wonderful dark, heavy drapes on the windows, which allowed you to get the bedroom *totally* dark, if you so desired—and we did. I was able to catch up on my sleep because it was calm, completely dark, and blessedly quiet in a way that almost no hotels are…and especially not one in the middle of a city! Amazing, and much appreciate!

And last but not least is the view. Absolutely incredible. We loved opening the window in the living room and looking right down on the square outside, with the fountain. It was straight out of a movie set in Europe, and I’m not kidding. The obvious comparison is to France, but I was also reminded of northern Italy. There was never a dull moment, and there was plenty of people-watching at its best, right from the comfort of your own room. MUCH better than watching TV.

Friendly service…excellent price for what it offers…beautiful décor…and perfect location. It simply does not get any better than this. I will recommend this place to anyone and everyone who visits Québec!

Room Tip: Any room with a view of the square is a keeper.

We booked this hotel not knowing what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. It is perfected located by the port and right outside of the inner city walls, which makes it a 5 minute walk to everything. It was very chic and beautifully constructed. Our room was enormous, had some very unique features and touches and included a kitchenette. The windows are low with ledges which is very nice. What I loved the most was the walls, one side was painted, the other was a grey brick, the third one was a red brick and along the hall to the door was a different paint, it was gorgeous!
We stayed 2 nights and it was nice and clean, the staff was knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful. We definitely would stay here again when visiting Quebec City.

Located in the lower Old Town area. This place is very convenient to all the usual tourist spots, and also the funicular which takes you to the upper Old Town.
A nice restaurant on-site, helpful English speaking desk staff, a very pleasant and quiet room, and close to the train station.
A bit pricey, but to get such a good location, the others are too. Very happy with my choice.

My family and I stayed here for two nights this past weekend and were pleased to find that our experience matched most reviewers' experiences. Our room was very clean and modern looking and equipped with a kitchenette. The location is excellent as it is in the Lower City of the old town and is within a 5 minute stroll to Breakneck stairs or Cote de Montagne(the windy road that goes up to Upper City). There are two bars downstairs but I did not experience either as there are superb choices outside of the hotel. The Hotel also offers valet parking, but I just parked the car by myself in the parking lot adjacent to the hotel(entrance on Quai Saint Andre). Apparently there is also a small lot on the opposite side of Rue Saint Pierre, but I didn't need to use it as there was always a spot in the lot adjacent to the hotel. This, to me, was a huge plus, and costs $15 per day.
