Although located 15 minutes from downtown and Le vieux Quebec, this hotel is beautiful, clean and quiet. It's staff is friendly and helpful and the American style breakfast is well worth it. If you travel during the summer months, the Navette Desjardins (shuttle) will take you to the old part of the city for a mere three dollars per day. Beginning September 5, the shuttle runs on weekends only but from roughly ten a.m. to midnight.

While we are a big fan of Holiday Inn Express as value for money in both North America and the UK, we were pleasantly surprised to find the best one we have ever been to in St. Foy. The hotel has everything you expect from an Express in North America, but the staff and the surroundings make it stand out from the crowd. Located with the other hotels in the area that are west of the Ville de Quebec, it is easy to drive into town and park to see the sites. There are plenty of restaurants around and it is close to shopping.

Room Tip: All of the rooms appear to be the same.

Great hotel with modern updates including hardwood floors and contemporary decor in the bathrooms. All of the hotels in Quebec were expensive, and this one was the most reasonably price for family travel, although I felt it was still expensive. There is a shuttle bus that will take you to Quebec City for $3 per adult. However, the lines to get back on the bus at night were very long. Parking in Quebec City was reasonably priced, but difficult to find. The breakfast was delicious!

We were very happy with our stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Ste. Foy (Quebec City). It is new, clean, quiet and staffed with friendly, helpful employees. The beds were extremely comfortable, the rooms and bathroom spacious, and the breakfast well above average for a Holiday Inn Express. We definitely recommend it for any travelers, including families.

While we originally planned to stay right in Quebec City, we encouintered few available rooms, very expensive rooms, and hotels that could nor accommodate more than two people. Ste. Foy (about 15-20 minutes) from the city is a very good altenative. The city bus (Navette Desjardins) stops right next door to the hotel and runs every 15 minutes from 10 am-8 pm and then every 30 minutes until midnight. The cost is only $3.00 per person for the entire day, and it makes several stops in the heart of Old Quebec. It was a very easy way to get to and from the city without the headache of driving and finding parking.

We visited Quebec City and stayed at Holiday Inn Express, Sainte-Foy for three nights. Although about 4-5 miles away from Vieux Quebec it was not an issue. There was plenty of paid parking available in the City. If driving is not an option, a city bus shuttle is available. The hotel has a very small pool but the free breakfast makes up for the size of the pool. The hotel was very clean, but it can get a bit loud. We had a room close to the ice machine and some people have no regard for others' peace and quiet. That's not the hotel's fault though...We will stay there again but hopefully on a quiter floor.

Thanks for the great review. Happy to hear you enjoyed our beatifull city. Alot of people think the spa is a pool, but its a spa (hot tub). Sorry about the noise, summer time is always a little bit busy. Next time just mention it and we'll give you a room on a higher level, could be less noisy.
Enjoy the rest of the summer. Thanks again.

Great hotel. The hardwood floors in the rooms are clean, yet warm and cozy. The "wood looking" tile in the bathroom is amazing (like you would find in a spa). The room is decent size, super clean and modern, and the AC was quite and worked well. The only thing I could find wrong with the room was it did not have an extra blanket - I was too lazy to call down to front desk, but I am sure they would have sent one up. Staff was professional and helpful. I would not call them overly friendly; but it is after all Quebec (where asking "Hello, do you speak english?" seems to be analogous to asking, "Hello, weren't you in a porn film?"). Still, they did a great job - especially the guy working the breakfast area - though the tip jar he put ut was a bit unusual (perhaps a Canadian thing...). Hotel is about 5 minutes drive outside the city. Parking is free at hotel. Plan to pay $10-$15 to park the car for the day in the city. Overall great hotel. Usually we only go Hampton Inn, but this one gives me new faith in Holiday Inn Express.

We stayed in here because we were looking for a nice hotel with a pool, free parking, and continental breakfast. This combination is actually difficult to find in the old city so we were willing to stay on the outskirts of Quebec City. We were not disappointed. This hotel is tastefully decorated. The pool is actually a VERY large hot tub that can function as a spa or a pool. It was well heated and this was essential because the weather was chilly even in August. The breakfast was fantastic - cinnimon buns, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. Beds were very comfortable. Two newspapers (French and English) were delivered every morning. Frig in the room was excellent.

The best part, however, was the staff. They were so helpful with providing driving and parking directions. We found if very easy and beautiful to drive into the city. There are two routes into the old town - along the river and through a lovely set of neighborhoods. One should not think twice about driving into Quebec City. Even the parking was fairly priced. The most we ever paid was $17.00 for 10 hours. The staff also gave us helpful information on attending special events such as free performances of Cirque du Soleil and Moulin a Images. Both were excellent.

Basically, we loved this hotel and did not miss staying in the old town one bit. An added bonus is that you can actually walk to the aquarium. It's just down the hill. For families with kids, this is a great place to visit. There are outdoor and indoor exhibits. We really liked the Walrus show - Fabulous! There is a large park for the kids with lots of equipment that tests balance and agility. Our kids LOVED it. The park is mostly in the shade. For warmer weather, there is small splash park also. The outdoor features were such an added bonus to this aquarium.

In sum, this was a lovely hotel and a great value compared to higher priced hotels in the old city.
