“good but not great”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

Finally a proper croissant! I can't tell you how many places serve bad croissants. If you want to get the measure of a bakery just try a plain croissant. If they do it correctly, chances are their other items are good as well.

We had a ham and cheese sandwich which was good as well.

“Late Breakfast at Croquembouche”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

Over proofed chocolate croissant, old roast beef, barely over one ounce, on a good ciabatta
a bare 5 on a 10 scale. No supervision. Does not belong on any top list.

“Excellent place for sweet or lunch.... As we did both!”
Reviewed May 11, 2013 via mobile

This is a great place. Everything was fresh and tasty (bar the coffees which were typically French), relaxed atmosphere, and friendly service. We went back here a few times. Highly recommended.

“MACARONS! So good.”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

I've never had parisian macarons. I bought the mixed box of 12 (with tax $17) - so delicious. Wow. Each one was perfection. Eat them out of the fridge.

The place didn't lend itself for wanting to stay and eat them there. The room was quite warm. Service was friendly.

“Best pastries in QC”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

I say these are the best pastries in Quebec City, but it might really be a toss-up between Le Croquembouche and Paillard. Le Croquembouche definitely has a bigger selection of pastries and bread. Located in St. Roch, we stopped here on our way out of town to have breakfast, and stock up on artisanal breads (try the olive bread). They also have some great sandwiches to go (on their own bread and croissants of course).
